Favre to take 8 to 12 snaps

Brett Favre's next big test before taking the field for his Jets debut will be finding his way to the correct locker room. "I know where the visitors' is," New York's new quarterback said. "I think from there, I can kind of backtrack." Then, Favre stopped himself and asked how many locker rooms there are at Giants Stadium. He was reminded that the defending Super Bowl champions also play there. "I better follow someone," Favre said with a big grin. You'll be fine, Brett. Just look for the guys in green and white. Favre will make his highly anticipated Jets debut Saturday night when he starts against the Washington Redskins, a scenario that seemed so unlikely 10 days ago. "This game will be fun," Favre said. "As this thing gets rolling, the newness will wear off and it gets down to playing. And I'll keep saying this: I'm here for one reason, and that's to help this team win. No other reason." Favre said his arm felt tired Wednesday and had his throws limited in his final two practices leading up to the game. "My arm, for the most part, has felt great," he said. "Legs, a little bit fatigued. You've got to figure I'm a little bit behind some of these guys." Coach Eric Mangini expected Favre to take eight to 12 snaps against the Redskins (2-0).

As much as I dislike the Jets, only because they are rivals of my Pats, I do hope Favre does well with them. Maybe not HOF well, but well all the same. =-]

And hopefully 3 of the other snaps are sacks by Carter and Taylor.

If he has a stellar outing, you'll hear: Like a kid out there, Gunslinger, Legend, HOF'er, ect ect .

If he has a bad outing, you hear: It's just the pre-season, he's new to the team, he isn't familiar with the offense.

The Press is going to go ape-shitte either way.

August 16, 2008  01:47 PM ET

Are those 8-12 snaps in a row, or spread out thru the game as to avoid fatigue?

August 16, 2008  02:26 PM ET

Brett who?

August 16, 2008  02:41 PM ET

that should equal 3 tds 2 ints

August 16, 2008  03:59 PM ET

(John Madden): Now ya see there's Brett Farve and he's doing what Brett Farve does and then here it comes look, look, look, BOOM and that's what happens when you're not familiar with a new scheme and a big defensive end blindsides you like BOOM like that.

Gonna to be a long year Blatt.

Colt will outshine him

August 16, 2008  05:33 PM ET

I don't think it's the locker room so much as Favre's center man. I mean he really needs to get focused on his players that will eventually protect him from mame and destruction. He should not give a crap where his locker is for now. His teammates will drag him to it if need be. He should be more concerned about is offensive line!!!

MrMiyagiJr | 08/16/08, 01:47 PM

That's kind of funny. Well, MrMiyagiJr, you don't know a thing about Ms. fatigue do you? This game will suck the life out of anyone in the QB position. Just look at how many QB's outlive DBs. Huh? How about that?

August 16, 2008  05:42 PM ET

I mean QB's come and go like old firewood..... Stacks of wood in your own backyard last longer than QB's.

Eight to twelve snaps is lame in this great NFL. He will prevail.

Loosing feels like the darkness of death spreading over your world as you know it!! I feel creepy crawly things in my hair when I lose. I don't know. It's just me. That is why I win most of the time!! Oh, yeah, Baby!!!
