Panthers offer Van Ryn for McCabe?

Florida Panthers general manager Jacques Martin would not comment on various reports coming out of Toronto that Florida was close to acquiring Maple Leafs defenseman Bryan McCabe in exchange for fellow defenseman Mike Van Ryn. Canada's TSN is reporting that a deal between the Panthers and Maple Leafs is done, the only sticking point being that a trade won't be completed until after Sept. 1. McCabe is due a $2 million payment from the Leafs as part of his deferred signing bonus. After that, however, McCabe could be free to come south in time for training camp. Sportsnet.ca is also reporting that McCabe has waived his movement clause in anticipation of joining the Panthers.

Oh, don't tease me T&R.....

Let's hope Bryan Mc-Overpaid is gone soon.

He is definately gone joec. One way or the other. Its just nice to see that the Leafs are not going to be stuck with a buy out and will have a few extra bucks available. Now with a glut of defensemen and plenty of cash available, sans Sundin of course, there should be a trade coming to place a top line forward in the lineup soon.
The fun is just beginning...and joec...
It's about that avatar of yours...really could use something.

Going from one non contender to another no big deal. He'll probably have more fun with all that cash in Miami with all the women and the beaches. A change of scenery may do him some good.

Darkstorm, a change of scenery to Florida is never good. That place is like poison for a career.

Dont people go to Florida to die?

Welcome to SoFla, Mr. McCabe! Glad to have a quality defenseman that our neighbors to the north have grown sour on. A change of scenery with do fine with McCabe. I can't believe JM got Toronto to take Van Ryn. Suckers!

Hey BostonGM, you've been watching too much of the Golden Girls. New decade brother!
