Notre Dame WR to transfer

08:23 AM ET 08.16 | Notre Dame training camp has its first casualty, though the hit isn't nearly fatal: Junior wide receiver Richard Jackson is transferring, the school announced Friday. In the 2006 Irish recruiting haul, Jackson was a four-star wideout prospect from Clermont, Fla., one of 12 four- or five-star prospects in the class. But he never truly prospered with the Irish, playing in 12 games as a freshman but none as a sophomore, recording zero catches in his two seasons. He likely saw playing time as an issue again with the arrival of several talented young receivers such as freshman Michael Floyd.

I wonder if the Pope thought his grades weren't good enough!

Looks like Charlie's upset with what's on the menu...could someone get him a new menu please! Maybe all you can eat buffet?

How about some new material joehamel...?

August 16, 2008  10:14 AM ET

not a big deal. All it means is more beer for Clausen.

August 16, 2008  10:28 AM ET

just weeding out the scrubs, not a big deal.

I thought you were pretty fricking funny, joehamel. don't pay attention to Gariboy.

I imagine that Charlie Tuna is bitching at the Irish cooks, because he took one look at the training menu and didn't see any Polish Kielbasa and prerogies.

Hey letting a Alligator-armed receiver go, is smart, and it makes way for these young guns, guided missles, in camp and down the road, A quitter never wins but whines. What were his real skills? Lets see what happens to him down the line. I won't be supprized if two or three guys are deep threats and possesion receivers at the same time. Better to get the players in the game, who can play.

As a player, you have to be willing to work hard & put in the extra hours to make it as a starter.

Alohabob has the right idea, ND has some good receivers Jackson just missed the cut.

Best of luck to him!

GO IRISH!

Hey, we have the two fattest coaches in America in back to back stories, cool.

It'll always be a wise life decision to get out of a program led by Charlie Weis.

Jealous??? Of what??? Yesteryear??? BTW, Anthony Davis sends his regards to all of the former ND players that played special teams on that 1974 team. He promises to send XMAS cards this year.

The transfers of these 4-5 star recruits due to the "big schools" stacking up monster recruiting classes is why the ranking of recruiting classes is bogus.

Some day these recruits will figure out that you can't have all this supposed talent and everyone get to play. When the school that recruits you just keeps stacking up the highly rated recruits your career is iprobably in jeopardy since everyone knows the newest is always the best!

For example: If you have 3 or 4 All American QB's like SC does, the last time I checked, there is only one football and if you're behind an underclassman you may be a 4-5 star bench warmer.

arejaydub watch out Irish fans a very offensive about their team... They have vowed to never forget the great Rudy movie about a guy who wasnt good enough to dress for their crappy team... Didn't most of they're Championships come before 1950?

Eastcoastkeith,

Try not to catch any jock itch out there... Oh wait, you've never even been within 3,000 miles of the school you claim to be a fan of. Notre Dame is back on the rise and Rutgers isn't going anywhere. Deal with it or get out of NJ...
