Mariners 'asking for the ranch'

The Mariners' poor season has extended from the field to the trade deadline and now to the waiver wire. They haven't been able to dump any of their veteran players. They placed Raul Ibanez, Jarrod Washburn, and Adrian Beltre on waivers at the same time and weren't able to work out deals. "They're asking for the ranch," said one baseball official. "They want you to take on their contracts and give you prospects. It's one or the other, and they want both."

Asking for the ranch wouldn't be so bad if these guys weren't signed to way overvalued contracts. You'd be lucky to give them away in a salary dump and these morons think they can fleece the receiving team AND dump the over paid players.

Ibanez is the only one worth what Seattle is paying them.

That's a nasty run on sentence.

Nationals trade pitcher Ayala to Mets
Relief pitcher requested trade

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals traded right-handed relief pitcher Luis Ayala to the Mets on Sunday morning for a player to be named later, but that player is expected to be infielder Anderson Hernandez.
Ayala requested the trade weeks ago because he wanted a change of scenery, due to personal problems.

Ayala has struggled this season, compiling a 1-8 record with a 5.77 ERA in 62 appearances.

Hernandez will join the Nationals on Tuesday against the Phillies. He will be a backup infielder for the remainder of the season.

he would wanna get his **** togethor

Why would they think they could get the world for Washburn, with that contract?

Seattle, they still have a team? They play worse than we do.

Common sense dictates any smart G.M. staying away from Seattle's "garbage" !!! The team and I say TEAM has one of the worst records in baseball and seeing baseball is a TEAM effort not much to want from this bunch of bums !!!

The Mariners messed up by not clearing some of their dead weight. Cutting Sexson was a start, but some of those other bozos need to be shown the door, regardless of what you could get for them. It's called addition by subtraction.

The ownership is good??? Are you kidding me? Mr. Nitendo has never even watched the M's play before. He is awful. The Mariners make a ton of money every year, even when we stink. So he isn't going anywhere. The Mariners are far from cheap too. Our F.O. is the worst in the league hands down. They have a limitless amount of money to spend but they don't know how to do it in a smart way.

The Mariners best bet is to trade for prospects and get on with rebuilding. I would even put Ichiro on the block. Any of the players mentioned in the article good garner 2 or 3 top prospects. If you can't win with that core of players then its time to just start rebuilding.

Ibanez has legitimate trade value, I would consider picking him up. I think he went 5 for 5 the other day. and has been hitting some clutch shots, about the only one of the m's that has had a decent year. even ichiro for all of his hits seems to be integral part of the seattle slump.

ownership sucks because they don't have any role, they just let lincoln run with the team and that has ruined the front office. they need to sell the team to a local who isn't going to move them to okc and start over with a new front office because this is going nowhere fast.
