Will NYR move Rozsival for Sundin?

The Rangers would love to have Mats Sundin, there is no question about that. He could team with Markus Naslund and Nikolai Zherdev while Chris Drury shifts to left wing to play with Scott Gomez and perhaps Ryan Callahan. But GM Glen Sather faces a daunting challenge in reconstructing the roster in order to fit Sundin under the cap, and would almost certainly have to dilute his defense in order to do so. Assuming Sundin would be willing to play for between $5-7M, the Blueshirts would almost certainly have to move defenseman Michal Rozsival, who re-signed on July 1 for $5M per for four years. The problem, however, is that the Rangers have only six NHL defensemen on their roster - including Rozsival.

Typical Rangers move - one step forward and two steps back. Their blueline is thin as it is, even with the way-overrated Wade "Sniff Sniff" Redden. The Rangers are going nowhere with the loss of tenacity and leadership (Avery and Shanny) and the addition of more Euros like Captain Sweden.

As a fan of a team that plays the Rangers a lot, I say do it. Sure, he'll help the offense, but a team with firepower like the Pens will walk through that defense like a hot knife through butter. Lundquist is good but...he ain't gonna be that good with no D in front of him!

this move would make no sense. sundin is old and washed up. an overrated player as he is. why give up your top defenseman who has improved each year with the rangers? i think the rangers do lack a little offense at this point, but roszival will give you 45 points and redden will put up 60-70. no need to sign sundin. roszival is also their most physical defenseman after they traded away tyutin. the defense is soft as it is.

Bostomgm,
As joec said, Wade 'sniff sniff' Redden has issues.
And I even kept that little habit of Redden's out of our TD when I said it was the worst signing of the summer. 6 yrs? And now the Rangers are condsidering dropping a promising young player as a result of Redden's hefty paycheck. It's a shame.

Why not move Redden? They could trade him to Montreal for Jeff Finger. O wait... That wouldn't save any money. Looks like they're screwed.

I can hardly wait to see Spiny's reaction to this rumour.

Yoda, no it is not a shame, it is the Rangers.

It is like a cheating girfriend or a drug or alcohol addicted person, they just mess up.

It is what they do.

Dumbest thread ever.

Sundin would help but why weaken an already weak defense. That move just wouldn't make sense.
