Feely's "Barber-ish" barb irks Fins

Some players weren't happy with former Dolphins kicker Jay Feely's comment that ''you can see the lack of talent that still exists'' here. ''He was part of the lack of talent we got rid of!'' Crowder said. Vonnie Holliday called Feely's comment ``kind of Tiki Barber-ish . . . Now that you're no longer [here], you downgrade us? I would expect a little more from that guy.''

Why would you expect more from him? He's a freakin' kicker!

Jay Feely commenting on a lack of talent?

August 17, 2008  09:46 AM ET

players that mouth off after they leave a team sound like a yapping Chihuahuas. much less a kicker built like one..

VERY VERY GOOD ANSWER VONNIE HOLLIDAY I SHOULD SAY NO MORE

August 17, 2008  10:41 AM ET

People are complaining about Feely's lack of talent. He set a team record for FG accuracy last season. He's hardly useless as kickers go. Also, why the hell shouldn't a kicker be able to make a comment as much as anyone else? Just because he specialises in one facet of the sport, it doesn't mean he's incapable of thought.

Now he'll have some time to get liquored up with Vanderjackoff

Caps lock love is an ugly thing.

August 17, 2008  10:58 AM ET

Why what a kicker say should matter? Just a thought....

August 17, 2008  11:00 AM ET

he is (and was last year) one of the best kickers in the game.
if Holliday was as good at his possision as feely is at his, this fin would'nt
be drafting 1"st.

That said how important is a kicker to a losing team, spend the $$$ on a possision player. mayy

Personally, I wouldn't be too upset by the comments of a kicker. It's kind of like having the Equipment Manager criticize you, it doesn't really carry too much weight.

The Dolphins may not have that much talent this year, but they are rebuilding. He didn't have to express to the media what the team already knows. But for him to trash the team after he leaves, is immature and shows no class on his part. He had a great year last year no doubt about that. He has had a habit this season of yapping his mouth. Do your job and shut it. You cannot expect a team to keep you if you are going to trash them for lack of talent, or this or that. It is the one thing that got him out of NY. Miami needs a TEAM. Not a bunch of me guys who easily get their feelings hurt of someone doesn't want them, or says something to them on an off day...Feeley is a good kicker. Hopefully some team out there will see what he accomplished last year, and sign him on that merit and overlook his big mouth and the things he has said about Miami. Hey, it worked for Brett Favre. he trashed the Packers and cried his way out of that, and some team still wanted the loser. So Feeley has hope too.

Kicker!!

August 17, 2008  12:43 PM ET

He got fired. He can say what he wants.

August 17, 2008  01:18 PM ET

The guy set a franchise record for kicking percentage and they canned him. He has the right to say the truth if he wants.

I do love the use of "Tiki" in reference to back-stabbing though.
He deserves it, for selling his soul to the devil ( Media )

August 17, 2008  01:48 PM ET

tiki-ish? the guys a subpar kicker..i mean even tiki couldnt of said that...but a subpar kicker?

August 17, 2008  02:18 PM ET

Wasn't Feely 21 for 23 on field goal kicks last year? That's a pretty good number...

August 17, 2008  03:28 PM ET

Why does anyone care about what a kicker says?

August 17, 2008  04:47 PM ET

Everyone is forgetting the actual reason he was cut/fired.... He had an injury to his kicking leg, albeit a small one, but for a kicker to have an injured kicking leg is just a disasterous situation, so Bill Parcells being smart, went ahead and cut him before he pulled a Vanderjagt on him, and he went with the rookie, who, so far is perfect.
