The Heat, which inquired about free agent center Jake Voskuhl, has talked internally about pursuing one of Memphis' point guards (such as Kyle Lowry) but does not want Jamaal Tinsley's Indiana contract (three years left, $21 million) and knows the Knicks reportedly will bring Stephon Marbury to camp and not cut him.

rileyyou are worst the then memphiss GM

August 17, 2008  09:59 AM ET

What a mess. Let's see, we trade White Chocolate, pass on Delonte West and Jannero Pargo, and see if we can bring in Stephon Marbury. If that doesn't work, we'll bring in Kyle Lowry. And they said I was nuts when I said Riley was as bad or worse than Isiah.

That stupid smile on his face says, "I'm as inept and incompetent as I can be, and I'm not just a member of this club, I'm the President."

August 17, 2008  11:47 AM ET

hllywd - riley is also reportedly wanting to trade marcus banks for tinsley (some other bum would need to be included to match salaries although not that far off)
what do you think about that one?

August 17, 2008  11:49 AM ET

...wow. voskuhl. i'm sure heat fans will be relieved to know riley is really working the phone lines overtime........poor dwyane.......

No matter what was said about Isiah, Riley has and had become the worst GM in the NBA. At least Isiah was willing to pay a little The problem with NY is that the media hurts its team with the harsh criticism they give their own players and putting everything in the news. Their media sucks because, randolph, curry etc were thought of as decent players in Portland. Then you watch the NY media tear them down every week they could and basically give them a bad rep and give them a trade value less than kwame brown. Now with no trade value, how could Isiah trade them? With all their garbage in the papers about their problems and strifes, how could Isiah trade them? But miami media always acts like Pat RIley can do no wrong, so Riley's rep is the league is coming right from his ineffectiveness as a GM.

Riley u better not ruin my heat they are on a road 2 redemption not another terible season u idiot!

August 17, 2008  12:46 PM ET

stop eyeing my grizzly guards you **** hole

August 17, 2008  12:52 PM ET

Haters all of you. Especially you Hllywood, you miserable ****. He didn't trade Williams you iddiot he let his nearly 10 million per year contract expire and come off the books. Riley still knows what hes doing and is keeping the big picture in mind. Hes not going to make any bold moves or overpay for anybody right now just for the sake of it. The goal is save money for the summer of 2010 when he wants to have enough money to extend Wade for max along with another max player such as Bosh. Chalmers, Wade, Beasley, Bosh will be a great core just wait.

August 17, 2008  01:09 PM ET

and news flash Hllywod you act like the Heat have been miserable for years now, they won the CHAMPIONSHIP only 2 years ago with the team Riley built and then coached. Comparing him to Isiah is asinine. Knicks havent' been releavant in like 10 years. Heat have made playoffs 4 out of the last 5 years. I'm going to enjoy watch the Heat wn 40 something games this year with Wade returning to 2006 form.

August 17, 2008  02:19 PM ET

I still don??t get why they didn??t go after Pargo.......

Are you on crack? The ONLY reason the Heat will "improve" this year is because it would be hard not to win more than 14 games. 28-54 grasshopper. Deal with it.

August 17, 2008  08:50 PM ET

Stephon Marbury????? isnt he going over seas?!

August 17, 2008  11:42 PM ET

I don't know about GCaton and his love of riley. Does riley pick up his tab one day or is Riley a family member? Gcaton, Riley didn't want to overpay anybody, so let Rashard Lewis get away but sign Smush to 4 mill two years and take on Blount's contract...hmmm...no bench...Miami resembles a D-League team cept for Marion and Wade...do you see that we're not haters (and I know this wasn't personally directed at me, but I had to say something) but that ypu're just a riley lover. just admit you're a fan of riley's and is biased to his position. I was one of the biggest people who wanted Riley in Miami when he was in New York, so I was a huge fan, but facts don't lie. The guy won't even hire a coach with a successful coaching history like Larry Brown, etc because his ego won't allow for a coach with his own mind and who may challenge him if they disagreed with Riley. Come on...after him, Stan Van Gundy (turned out great, but one of Riley' assistants who would continue to listen to him) and now spolestra(incorrect spelling?)...

August 19, 2008  10:29 AM ET

Riles seems to be letting his ego get in the way of building a decent team. He doesn't want to spend the cash he should be spending and his team will suffer as a result.

I don't understand why ownership is letting him get away with it. Go figure!

At least D-Wade will have a great year next year.

August 20, 2008  04:14 PM ET

he really should be focusing on the center position because mark blunt stinks.

August 20, 2008  08:38 PM ET

Possible situation: Miami remains a defenseless team and finishes in the bottom 10. They get to keep their pick and add another lottery talent. They either let Marion go or sign and trade him for an expiring contract. The following year, they have tons of cap room which they then proceed to use on resigning Wade and add a monster (preferrably Amare...). The Heat will then have a core of Wade, Amare, Beasley, Chalmers, Cook, and the 2009 lottery pick.

Yea, Riley obviously doesn't know what he's doing.......What he should be doing is putting it all on the table this season with complete disregard of the team's future.....

Remember, the Heat were pretty bad at the turn of the century, then Riley put together a really nice core of young talent (Wade, Butler, and Odom), which he then sold for a championship. The man may not be the best GM, but he's nowhere near the worse. Sure, you could rip him for trading for Blount's terrible 3 year contract, but please don't completely disregard the fact that we dealt away Walker's more expensive 4 years.

August 20, 2008  10:32 PM ET

just so you know, the walker contract we dealt away which was so great for blount: Walker was one of our most consistent post season players...look it up..i agree he was garbage during the regular season, but he didn't have any plays drawn for him (lazy coaching...doesn't involve players except superstars especially with a team full of former all stars, but one's who needs plays set unlike DWade who is a player maker). Riley's one of the worst GM's and the only reason you most people can say otherwiae is because they are fans of Riley. If this was Isiah and he made these moves and had a team full of DLeaguers, would you accept it...didn't think so.
