There was the journey toward a 16-0 regular season and the AFC championship, then the bitter ending of a crushing defeat in Super Bowl XLII. When top Patriots officials gathered this offseason, they pondered the best way to celebrate a season that had such exhilarating highs and one crushing low. In the end, after declaring the season the fourth-greatest achievement in team history, they elected to have a private ceremony to commemorate it last Monday at Gillette Stadium. Owner Robert Kraft and team president Jonathan Kraft presented the players with rings. On one side of the ring, it reads "16-0 -- perfect season." On the other, it reads "18-1, AFC Championship." In addition, a banner was made to commemorate the season, and it was unveiled at the ceremony, with Kraft pulling a rope as it came down from the ceiling. It will be displayed at Gillette Stadium, next to the team's Super Bowl banners.

" When do I get my 12-4, 14-5 NFC Champions ring for 2000.".....Tiki

I don't care if there are rings for the other teams - now forever they'll be reminded of their cheating season and how they were brought to their knees when it mattered most!

18 and NOPE! HAHAHAHA

Common sense and a logical mind would understand the significance of the rings... so haters save the sarcasm and foolish, childish remarks!

Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics!!! "BOSTON"

It is a reminder of a colossal collapse. Nice sentiment.

I am sure Mike Tyson had a ring made up after his loss to Buster Douglas... it read, " I was the heavy favourite, and choked".

THIS IS LIKE GIVING AN EMPTY BOTTLE OF CHAMPAGNE TO SOMEONE AS GIFT AS A NEWYORKER I'M HAPPY THAT WE CAUSE THIS PAIN TO THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS AND TO BOSTONIANS

Nowhere in the paragraph above does it say the NFL or Roger Goodell had anything to do with the rings or the banner. Both were from the team owner in appreciation of an exciting season. Why do you think so many players from other teams want to play for the Patriots so much that they'd take a pay cut? The owners know how to reward hard work and love the game as much as the players do.

As for the cheating issue, the only thing the coaching staff did incorrectly was to video the opposing team from an area of the field that had been previously allowed but then wasn't.

If the fact that they were penalized for that action is the only thing that some of you took away from last season, then I don't know how you can call yourself a fan of the game.

KREDENTIALZ common sense and a logical mind from a patriot's player would make him say, "thanks mr. kraft but if i'm going to wear a ring for playing football i want it to be a legitimate super bowl ring.' . Watch and see how many of these rings will actually be worn. While the giants players wear their rings everywhere they go and are proud of them. The patriot's players will have people asking them what superbowl ring is that for, the superbowl you lost? oh ok, nice, yeah good for you, here's a plaque commemorating your great performance at training camp. Seems like a pity award to me, the kind you give a special needs kid for making a macaroni necklace that doesn't fall apart.
GO GIANTS, THE REAL WORLD CHAMPIONS WEAR THE REAL RING BABY

I don't know how you can call yourself a fan of the game when you so easily dismiss the "cheating issue" as you put it. The way you describe it is like they didn't even realize they were cheating.

Anthony Young has a ring celebrating his 27 game losing streak & Scott Norwood has one too but never wears it for some reason. BTW, I do want to see the Dolphins streak snapped but not by a team that's lacks more class than them.

While I was not privy to any discussions, and I doubt you were either, from what I gathered from the information presented to the public was that they didn't clearly understand the memo and continued to film from a previously approved location. They were punished for this transgression and shouldn't be subjected to further punishments especially from "fans".

While I may not personally like the fact that they didn't win Super Bowl XLll, I have congratulated the New York Giants and their fans on a superbly played and extremely exciting game. It was one of the few that lived up to the title Super Bowl and was actually more fun to watch than the commercials.

Will the Giants get another ring because there crying noone thinks they can do it again?

Pathetic..Pats should get a ring for cheating to!

The Pats alsp presented David Hasselhoff with an honorary ring after he serenaded them at camp with some of his greatest hits.
