Dodger upset with Vin Scully

He's been cantankerous all week -- like that's different than any other week, but he's really been Jeff Kent ornery and then some -- peeved at anyone who might suggest he's doing better because Manny Ramirez is hitting behind him in the lineup. It's obvious, though, everyone noticing it, Kent going into Saturday night's game hitting .500 behind Ramirez, Vin Scully mentioning it during each broadcast. "Vin Scully talks too much," Kent said. Now that's funny, the guy who normally doesn't say much, this time saying way too much. "You can't say that," I told Kent, and he said he had just spoken to 200 women (at a Dodgers function) "and I told them the same thing, and they laughed. "We all love you, Vin," Kent added with a mischievous grin, "but you still talk too much." Ran that by Scully. He had nothing to say.

I talk alot to but nobody listens, and i get very jealous.

Scully is a legend, Kent is a racist hillbilly who used to be a great hitter.

Is that last part written really atrociously, or is my brain not functioning right this morning?

Jeff, shouldn't you be popping wheelie on your dirt bike to impress the teenaged girls or something? Get off Scully before the Dodger faithful get on you.

Why would the Dodgers let Kent talk to 200 women? I guess after Larry the Cable Guy was booked he was the keynote speaker on topics such as how to run a ranch, working for Home Depot (he's a hardworker), growing and maintaining a mustache and feuding with neighbors.

Jeff Kent's an ****. This is hardly a news flash.

I thought the same thing.

Vin Scully is still alive??
Let the man talk all he wants, ya wanker. =]

August 17, 2008  11:34 AM ET

This was the same story when Jeff Ku.nt was playing in San Francisco. Everyone knew his numbers were so stellar because he had Barry batting either before him or after him each and every game. Ku.nt is barely the player he was with the Giants and is now simply a bitter, racist, washed up veteran.

Mr. Kent is nowhere near the Superman he imagines himself to be.
Vin Scully did him a favor by not commenting.
Crass vs. Class at its most obvious.

August 17, 2008  11:47 AM ET

Gee what a shocker....Kent opening his mouth spewing garbage again. Vic Scully is a baseball legend not only here in Los Angeles but in all of baseball and Kent deems it right to be upset at him because he speaks the truth? No wonder Kent is possibly the second most hated player in baseball behind Bonds. Kent has nobody but Manny to thank for his increased average. I have never seen and heard a more bitter man in baseball than Jeff Kent other than Bob Feller. Then again he's 90. How do Kent's wife and kids stand to be around this man?

I would "pay" to hear "The Vin" announce a ballgame. I would not "pay" to see Ms. Kent play or attempt to play for the Dodgers. Talk all you want Vinnie, at least you make sense!!!

Hay Kent why don't you go out and play in the middle of I-5.

August 17, 2008  12:36 PM ET

The key point IS the end, as Vin Scully, in fine fashion, had nothing to say. Jeff, ****!!! I appreciate all of you who posted on here in support of Vin. Having been born & raised in L.A., I've heard Vin's voice ever since I was a tiny-tot. Vin's voice is like a cup of hot chocolate on a chilly night. The game could be "oh so boring", and Scully will make it worth your while with some story from yesteryear. We need to honor all the legends NOW, not AFTER they've passed away.I miss Frances "Chick" Hearn so much, LAKER games just aren't the same without him. The same can be said of Scully, when he goes to broadcaster's HEAVEN, Dodger games will never be the same.

Jeff Kent is miffed with someone? There's a shocker! Hey Jeff, you've always been a better hitter with a Barry or a Manny behind you. Anybody would be. Enjoy it & let it extend your career. By the way, Vin gets paid to talk - you don't. Shut up & hit.

August 17, 2008  12:44 PM ET

Contrast this with Ludwick and Ankiel both of whom say they'd love to hit in front of Pujols for the rest of their careers. According to Ankiel, he's never seen so many fastballs for strikes in his life.

Thank God, last year of a contract of this ****.

Make it three.

I read it twice and I'm still trying to figure out what he's talking about.
