Peachtree Ridge linebacker Kevin Minter, who has committed to LSU, was recently offered by Alabama. "It was cool," Minter said. "It felt good to be offered by such a big-time program. [However] I'm still going to LSU." Minter, a member of the AJC's Super Southern 100, picked the Tigers over Southern Cal, Oklahoma, Virginia, Purdue, Ole Miss, N.C. State, Kentucky and West Virginia, among other offers. Minter said he is unsure if LSU will be his only official visit.

Did QVC have a sale on hats and I missed it? Yesterday Childress, today Saban. I wonder if it is a Nike promo?

It's the sun, every coach wears that style in the South - very common - comment funny. Keep em coming...

Satan should know by now, it's LSU that attracts the athletes not the coach!!!

Another article that has a headline written to deceive as the article states: "It was cool," Minter said. "It felt good to be offered by such a big-time program. [However] I'm still going to LSU."

Reportedly, Coach Satan made him sign in blood.

Didn't you read the article? He already chose the better team with the better coach.

August 18, 2008  05:50 PM ET

If he didn't consider Florida in the mix, he's not a player anyway.

August 18, 2008  06:37 PM ET

You know Gator, that was really stupid. Maybe he wants a school with better coaching or academics.

August 19, 2008  12:03 AM ET

Umm, Bayou Jim, if that's true, how do you explain Mike Archer and Curly Hallman????

August 19, 2008  05:50 PM ET

Nick was on an ego trip to try to steal one from LSU. Bama looked good against Clemson, but LSU is no Clemson, so we will get to see Nick Saban up Close this fall. You can bet the LSU Tigers have the Bama game circled on the calendar. I think Clemson has a weak DL and the OL is not much either, so they could not stop anyone or move the ball against Bama. Bama will be much improved this year, but LSU will be about the same as last year.

I predict Nick will take it on the chin one more time from LSU. Tiger fans will not let him forget how he screwed up by dumping LSU for the Miami Dophins. Nick did a lot for LSU, and LSU did a lot for Nick. But, LSU ended up with a great one in Les Miles who loves LSU enough to turn down his alma mater. The difference between Les and Nick is dedication and a strong comitment.

Also, Les wants to beat Nick as bad as the LSU fans want him to. Nick has thrown his recruits up to Les too many times. I think LSU and Les are recruiting in the top 10 or top 5 every year, and LSU is still getting better.

Peterpumkinhead:

Mike Archer won a share of the SEC west in 1988, so I think he had good athletes. Curley even recruited well, but he just could not coach. Don't blame LSU's Athletes for the poor coaching of Curley. Gerry Dinardo inherited Curley's recruits and beat Nick Saban and Michigan State in the Independence Bowl his first year.

Saban Nation:

At least he won't be changing to Alabama. Most coaches are gentlemen and respect a players commitment when he makes one to a school, but Saban lacks character and has no ethics.

Don't forget, Saban didn't come to Alabama because he loved the school or gave a flip about the Crimson Tide, he came because Bama kept upping the big money offer until they equaled the money he was making with Miami. He said publically over and over that he would not be the coach of Alabama, but Bama kept raising the money until he couldn't pass it up. Besides he was going to be on the hot seat at Miami and Bama offered a nice refuge for him.

Saban messed in his mess kit with LSU and he knew it. But, don't worry LSU is doing just fine with Les Miles and Les proved he loves LSU by turning down his Alma Mater to Stay with the Tigers.

Are you suggesting that once a kid commits,UA is the ONLY school that keeps recruiting them????????? Take a couple of deep breaths. It is painfully obvious to me that you guys are still hurting from Sabans departure. We know how that feels,I would LOVE to have a few quiet minutes with Franchione.Enjoy your team and your coach.I hope you guys have a great season except for one game.I love to see the top ten dotted with SEC teams.Just don`t hate on Bama.It makes you look bad.
