No movement in Jackson holdout

Despite rumblings over the weekend that there might be some movement on the Steven Jackson front, sources familiar with the negotiations -- or lack thereof -- say there was no dialogue between the Rams and Jackson's agent save for a brief phone call Friday between the parties. So the holdout continues. As of Sunday, the Pro Bowl running back had missed 24 days of training camp and the preseason, 24 practices and two preseason games. At $15,116 per day, his fine total stands at $362,784 -- or just under the minimum base salary for a second-year NFL player. For the first time, Rams coach Scott Linehan conceded Sunday that time is of the essence in getting Jackson ready for the season opener Sept. 7 in Philadelphia.

As if the Rams season wasn't already a complete loss, and now the only guy on there team who is worth anything won't even come out to play. Get this guy in camp! This is totally screwing with all my fantasy drafts!

Yeah...this is pretty bad. His agent has said he has no problem sitting out the entire season.

His agent isn't the one paying the fines....

never seen a guy run so far, so fast, from 50 million

August 18, 2008  08:35 AM ET

he'll play and the rams will forgo the fines ...

I personally think that he should continue his hold out, at least until Sept 8th

This is really hurting the Rams......they need to get him in camp quickly

The Rams really need Jackson's production on offense...the team is already plagued enough by injuries and w/ Pace coming back on the O-line, they should expect a great season from Jackson

No movement in Jackson holdout, eh? Time for Benefiber. :|

Laxatives are a mutlt-million dollar business topping Brett Favre's salary until a couple of years ago.

Always a tough call when a bad team is held hostage by their best player. Personally, I trade his ***, first chance I can. Who really cares if they win 3 games or 5/6 games with him? Big money is only well spent on tams with a shot at the big game.

Is there any athlete out there who still believes in honouring a contract that he/she signs. And I know people will say he has outplayed his contract but his own fault for signing something for a long term. As for the fact that owners can walk away and cut a player on a whim, well that is something that needs to be ironed out and corrected in a future CBA, but for now, honour your damn contact and play!!

The Rams are really in a tough spot,. Win without honor or loose with dignity. Not sure I like either options.

Winning seems to make you forget about all the problems you had :-)

He REALLY needs to get in camp, I have NO idea why he turned down $50 Million? Running backs are a popular commodity, and not too many other teams are gonna whip out that kind of money, not teams that are any better than the Rams anyway. A few cellar-dwellers (like ourselves) might offer, but he isn't making any progress by doing so. It's just plain idiotic, what he's doing, I don't know what he's asking for? $75 Million? ****?

I am glad to see he finally got his butt in camp.....
