Some team will up the offer to Burnett after he opts out, overpay him with 15-18 mill a year which the Jays will wisely not match. He's got 15 wins and a 4.67 ERA... seems the only time the Jays swing the bats is when AJ pitches - his win total is inflated.

I have no idea where you got your info on Toronto. It is, in fact, an incredibly clean city with lots of culture and substance. Have you ever heard of any former players rip the city? Come on, man, get the facts. The vast majority of players love playing in T.O. for many reasons, a great lifestyle, great bars, restaurants and the fact they can walk down the street without getting mugged by criminals or paparazzi.

The Jays have a solid foundation... a great young pitching staff, some solid positional players ( Lind, Wells, Rios, Hill) . What Ricciardi has failed to do is augment some of that talent with a home-run free agent spree to push them over the top. It is kind of hard to do that when you play in a division with the two craziest spenders in the A.L. Not giving him any excuses, but just stating the obvious. Losing Burnett won't hurt the Jays, he is overrated and way overpaid.

Unlike you, I base my opinions on FACT. I have spent quite a bit of time in that city, and therefore not only entitled to MY opinion, but also an informed one. Lock it up stimey!

I dont know about Burnett, he's injury prone and got a high ERA, but somehow he's winning. Plus if he leaves the Jays are left with Doc, Marcum, McGowan (comin off surgery), Litsch, and Purcey as their rotation (maybe Janssen). Aside from Doc and Marcum that's alot of youth in the backend considering Dustin's still never pitched a whole season. Oh and Toronto's a great city.
