Goodyear has set a pair of tire tests for Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the site of a caution-filled Brickyard 400 last month where NASCAR had to limit green-flag runs to 13 or fewer laps because of issues with excessive tire wear. Goodyear will return to the famed 2.5-mile oval Sept. 22-23, likely with three teams. One of those will be the #45 Petty Enterprises team, a Goodyear spokesman confirmed Saturday. The second test will be Oct. 6-8 with likely more than 10 teams.

You think, Goodyear! I never would have guessed!

Man, people get UPSET when you make a comment about Jr! Relax folks.

Yeah, you wouldn't want to have any of the teams that were running hard up front during the race for the tire test...that might put too much stress on the tires.

For this year they are way late, but let's give Goodyear a little bit of credit for trying to avoid this mess from happening next year.

A couple things. First, they will be doing two tests THIS YEAR. This has nothing to do with the testing they will do next year. Second, people are complaining about the 45 team testing. What are the 48, 24, 17, 20, 18, and other teams doing those days? Does anyone know. Is it possible they are testing on non-Cup tracks in an effort to be good in the Chase? Maybe the 45 team is the only team that is available to test at Indy as of right now.

Indy is not a track similar to other Chase tracks, so I don't think a ton of teams are ju,ping at the chance to run a tire test at Indy after what happened in the race.

Why would a team risk

a) Tearing up valuable equipment? What happens if a tire blows and the car hits the wall? Will Goodyear pay for the team to repair or build another car?

b) Injury a driver? Nothing against KP, I would hate to see him injured, but he doesn't have the same value to NASCAR's Chase as Gordon, Stewart, Dale Jr, or another top level driver.

You might see more teams sign up after the Chase if finally determined. Teams could use the tire test as a way to at least as a way to get some information for next season.

As for Dale Jr staying out and that crap. HE made the choice to stay out, not the crew chief. This falls completely on the driver.

What caused him to hit the wall? A cut tire, a loose car, a tight car? Any number of factors played a role in his hitting the wall?

The driver is the one in complete control. Even if the crew chief tells a driver to stay out, the driver still has control of the steering wheel.

Ya Think! What a bunch of GENIUSES!

Little by little, Mr. Earnhardt Jr. is proving that the apple has fallen a long way from the tree. He sounds a lot like Mr. Gordon on the radio, this is wrong and that is wrong, bah bah bah
