Will Cards start Leinart or Warner?

We sure wouldn't want to be in Ken Whisenhunt's shoes right about now. The Cardinals coach not only has to determine which 53 players are going to make his team's final roster, he has to determine which of his two quarterbacks is going to trot onto the field Sept. 7 to take the first snap against the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park. Matt Leinart is the starter right now, but supposedly Kurt Warner is getting a chance to compete for the job. And the fact that Warner got to start the second preseason game indicates that Whisenhunt is serious about giving him a fair shot. Or maybe he just wants to motivate his young quarterback because he believes the guy will play better if he's looking over his shoulder a little bit.

Trade Warner to Chicago for Grossman. Then each team can have one really crappy QB and one decent one, and stil go absolutely nowhere.

August 18, 2008  07:44 AM ET

Leinart will start. And the Bears? Thanks BoBo but about 2/3 of the NFL will not go anywhere. The Bears are probably an example. Looks like the Pats and a few others want to join them. Of course, I have been saying that for months.

Head coach is letting Warner compete for the job to keep him in the loop. But he's not going to win the job.Its just a contest for the sake of a contest.

does anybody really care who starts for the Cards?

Other than Warner and Leinart, nope......

One good season is one more the Leinart has had. I'd say their both over-rated, but at least Warner has a ring to show. All Matt's got are some party pictures that show's he has more to do in his spare time than studying to take away the QB job from your "Mr. Overrated".

What's Leinart supposed to do....lock himself up in his house for 8 months of offseason and just watch film and throw footballs? Come on!!! At least he's not establishing dog fighting rings, beating up women, or half the other crap 50% of the league gets arrested for!

How can a two time league MVP only have 1 good season under his belt?? and did you even look at his numbers from last season before posting this nonsense?? Get your facts straight.

I bet the answer to the article title is YES, almost definately!

Heaven forbid that a guy with a job do the things neccessary to excel at that job at the highest level....Leinert is out of HS so maybe he should start acting like it....

that's basically what Payton Manning and Tom Brady do....and most of the other top tier QBs....they study and practice and do whatever they need to do in the offseason to get better....Leinert seems to still think its gonna be like college where USC was so much better than everyone else, it didn't really matter if they knew the plays or practiced....Leinert always had a Reggie Bush on hand....

August 18, 2008  10:40 AM ET

Warner gives you the best chance to win now. Let Leinart develop one more year and give him full control next year. I'd stay away from both QBs unless you want to take a flier late in an FF draft.

They could start Jesus and still miss the playoffs. At the end of the day, they're still the Cardinals.

Reggie ... with his 3.3 yards a carry ... *chuckle*

August 18, 2008  11:20 AM ET

Let's ask Kurt's wife what she thinks

They should contact "Ram", the Hindue god. I hear he has 8 arms.

Talk about shoving, pushing, pulling, holding, making out with a chick and still being able to throw the ball. But you're right, the Cardinals would still miss the playoffs.
