Shawn Kemp, 40, has finalized a deal to come out of retirement to play in Italy. Kemp will play for Premiati Montegranaro this season. As ballineurope.com points out, the game to circle on your calender is Dec. 21 in Rome when Kemp's team plays Pallacanestro Virtus Roma featuring Brandon Jennings. It will be the matchup of Kemp, one of the first NBA stars out of high school, against Jennings, a first team USA TODAY All-USA basketball selection, who chose to skip college and go to Europe to get ready for the NBA.

Wow, this is news. Now they consider Europe a retirement center. Are you kidding me. This is a major decline. They went from Lebron and Kobe to now the 40 year old Kemp who could not make it in the NBA. Just like Dominique Wilkins when he was almost 40 and couldn't jump anymore, Europe signs him up. If Europe wants to be considered one of the best in the world then they should continue to go after the superstars not the old stars.

Kemp was a beast now, just trying to survive to pay child support!

I guess the question here is, does he have anything left? Contrary to popular belief, the European league is NOT on a par with the NBA. If Kemp is able to get himself in some kind of shape, there's no doubt in my mind he can play.

Yes! Shawn Kemp is the man. I have a binder with his picture on it. It's vintage 1996. He was a great player, but the poor guy had a little cocaine habit. Nobody is perfect right?

Last time Kemp suited up for the NBA, he had to suck in that belly that he had invested. Hopefull, he has gotten in shape.

The only way that Dec 21 game would be interesting is if Brandon Jennings is one of Kemp's 93 kids.

Wonderful....................But how much does he have left?

Gelding's can't reproduce. They were castrated. Was Shawn Kemp castrated? It'd be good if he couldn't reproduce as well , actually.

Although Jordan played till he was 40+, he was healthy and in-shape. he could still fly if he wanted to. Shawn has been out of the court for too long, and into bad habits for even longer. I doubt he will make much impact in Europe.
