Douglass linebacker Jonathan Atchinson appears to be one of the finishing touches of Auburn's 2009 recruiting class. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Atchinson committed to the Tigers over Alabama, among other colleges.

Well good for him, I honestly couldn't care less but aparently Alabama and Auburn fans fight over this kinda stuff all the time, so way to add fuel to the fire fannation, this oughta be some A-1 entertainment once Bama fans learn how to read. But seriously watching Alabama and Auburn fans fight is fun, I saw some getting in fist fights at the Senior Bowl a few years ago, and the rest of the fans would just suround the two fighting and just start chanting either War Eagle or Roll Tide.

So true. I was a guest of an Alabama friend who took me to the UA/AU game. Even he was humiliated by his fellow fans as they threw drinks ON THE AU BAND memebers in the stands!.......Before the KICK OFF!!! I can say I will never watch an UA game again or think very much of their fan base. It was the single most disgusting moment I have every experienced in a sporting event. Shame on the Alabama fans. Just terrible.

I feel sorry for his family, Nick Satan will probably burn down their house and other assorted dark order activities...just sayin.

August 19, 2008  10:22 AM ET

Both sides have their share of idiot fans. Anyone who attacks opposing fans or bands for no reason should go to jail. As an Auburn fan though, I have to say that alabama fans are jealous of our recent accomplishments. They start spouting facts about NC's won (most of them before the civil war) and then want to fight. Nick Saban is a good coach, but it will be another few years before bammers have a legitimate shot to beat Auburn.

I wonder how long people, like *LSU* above, will continue to show their ignorance regarding the educational status of Alabama residents. True, there are rural areas of our state that garner much more attention than they deserve, however the state as a whole is doing quite well. The University of Alabama continues to rank at the very top of educational institution ranking, and Auburn University produces some of the finest engineering minds in the nation.
I understand someone from the great state of Louisiana, which has absolutely no reputation at all for 'backwoods, country folk,' might want to take a shot across the bow of a Southern neighbor. I just don't understand why it wasn't something a little more original.
Or am I reading too much into it?...

If you want a legitimate shot, I can be of some service with my firearrows

August 19, 2008  12:08 PM ET

Don't ya all just love it when Bammer loses?!

August 19, 2008  12:40 PM ET

Devo the answer to yyour question is yes, and BamaMatt, I'm not insulting your state, I'm insulting the overall blindness shown by Bama fans.

They act like they're still a powerhouse an refuse to learn there place dispite the fact as LSU and Auburn has shown the last 7 years in a row, the tide has changed. But Bama decide instead of accpting this, they'll just stick there heads in the ground and stay in the Bear Bryant era.

August 19, 2008  12:43 PM ET

Really? That's the best arguement you have? Throwing stuff? Yeah, that was classless. But no where near what the AU fans have done in terms of threatening poor Tayler ZarZar and his family all because he didn't put AU in the poll where the fans "think" AU should be! Please! That is the definition of classless.

Your all right. Bama hasn't had a very good past 10 years. But we're only going to get better. As for AU, they had the best past ten years that they've had in a long time. And what do they have to show for it? No NC's that's for sure. But they say that arguement gets old. Ok then, where's there SEC championships in the last 10 of their best years? Oh, that's right, THERE WEREN'T ANY!!!

ROLL TIDE ROLL ALL YOU JEALOUS HATERS!! ROLL TIDE ROLL!!! Just keeping sitting there wishing Tubby was worth $4 million...but I don't recommend holding your breath.

The barn was due for one. The Crimson Tide is still leading in head to head recruiting. Of the thirteen committed recruits that had offers from both Alabama and Auburn, nine have chosen Alabama while only four chose Auburn.

August 19, 2008  01:05 PM ET

tgrh8r25, Auburn won a SEC championhsip in 2004, remember? they were uneadeted?

If Bama fans need to "learn how to read", I guess that means LSU fans need to learn how to spell and type. Best not to insult someone's intelligence if you don't know the difference between "there" and "their".

August 19, 2008  01:31 PM ET

tgrh8r25 is the classic bammer. Spouts off at the mouth without having a clue what she is saying. Please check your facts next time.

August 19, 2008  01:32 PM ET

Those thick-headed punks at bama have to remember the past- becuase they have NO FUTURE-

Auburn has consistnetly been "out recruited" by bama the last 10 years but the bama punks have consistently taken and worn a whipping from our boys very well over that time.......we have the whip and darned if I don't think they like us using it on them.

Here wishing the next 10 are as much fun as the last 10- the tide has rolled allright - right down the toliet bowl.

Wow one typo, shoot me

August 19, 2008  03:04 PM ET

My bad. I forgot that they did actually pull out a win for the SEC championship. I guess my mind was going to how that, and an undefeated season STILL wasn't good enough to get them a try at one little National Championship. oops...must be hard when your best isn't good enough...

and chief...you couldn't be more wrong, or more jealous. We have a past-and we embrace it b/c it entails tradition, history, championships, etc., something you wouldn't know anything about. I guess I'd be jealous too if I knew all my team had to look forward to was a washed up Tubby...We may have had some hard times, but we're turning things around more and more day by day, which just eats you alive. You're seeing our hard times come to and end and yours are about to begin. Poor thing...

August 19, 2008  03:41 PM ET

It only took the NCAA to damn near put an end to Alabama football before the barners and corndogs could have some success. Times up boys! The Tide is rolling back in!

August 19, 2008  03:53 PM ET

"Auburn has consistnetly been "out recruited" by bama the last 10 years"

Ahh...revisionist history at its finest. With the exception of last year, Auburn's recruiting classes have been higher ranked this decade.

August 19, 2008  03:56 PM ET

didn't you see all the talent that got drafted out of Bama last year!...........barners are rediculous.

August 19, 2008  04:02 PM ET

I don't know one Auburn fan who is the least bit jealous of Alabama. I sincerely hope you are turning around your program. While it is fun to continue the streak I would much rather have a competitive Iron Bowl, maybe even mean something. It has not for the last 6 yrears.

Please share with us what your crystal ball is showing that tells you we are about to have hard times. We consistently are able to reload and our defense has always been one of the best in Division 1.

By the way, Alabama almost put an end to itself, the NCAA had nothing to do with it.
