Carmelo wants to play in 2012 Games
Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony is enjoying his Olympic experience so much he's interested in returning for the 2012 Games in London. "Hell, yeah,'' he said. "I'll be 27 years old (actually 28)... Depending on what the process is, I am open to 2012. We shall see what the process is.'' However, with the current Olympic team having made a three-summer commitment, starting with the 2006 World Championships, Anthony didn't sound too keen on doing that again. "It is a grind, but I don't think that, from what I'm hearing there will be another three-year commitment or something like that,'' he said. "So I will have to see that. But, if it's come to play and try out in '11 or '12, then I'll be good for that.''

You should really worry about the Nuggets before the 2012 Olympics.

Good for him, but I hope he's wrong about not having another three-year commitment plan. They need something like that if they want to dominate like they are this year.

The commitment plan is a great thing... Maybe he has a point about being on the grind all year long for another 3 years, which would bring him back to before the '04 Olympics... that's a pretty long time. I think they said yesterday that Dirk had played something like 140 games for the German team... so I really don't think that the grind is as big an issue as he's making it - especially considering that he IS the entire German national team, at least up until Kaman got to play for them for the first time this year. But if they can have a bigger pool of players, maybe he can practice with the team and learn whatever system they'll be using, and be able to pass on certain competitions or friendly games.

I think the Olympic play this year has affected the personality of the players who went there. We are used to see selfish players who only care about the dollars in the NBA, but this international event was all about national pride and so, we see the change in the mentality of the participants.
I think more NBA players should be involved in world championships especially the younger stars. I am happy for 'Melo and the rest of the team. I hope international events remain as a big challenge for us, BUT we CONTINUE to KICK SOME **** wherever we go.

That is a long way in the future. Maybe you should concentrate on 41 wins with the Nuggets in '09.
It must be fun, though, whooping up on Spain and Angola. I think the NBA is a little more work than these guys.

Aahhh, a few spammers in the room. If he wants to play, and he's still talented enough...why wouldn't he play?

Come on.....you really don't believe it was the 3 year 'committment' do you?
We are dominating because we have our best players PLAYING this time around......Kobe + LBJ + Dwade = GOLD
Also.....we don't have stephon marbury running the show

Why are people "praising" his commitment when the article states he doesn't want to commit again, he just wants to try out if that option is available, God forbid he actually gets suckered into committing to 3 years again...

Jackman and Guam,
It's not that everyone hates on Carmelo. In a way, he has done this to himself. In the NBA, he is selfish, self-centered, no commitment to defense, does dumb stuff outside the team like driving drunk. I think people would like to see him more serious about the Nuggets! Do something in the playoffs except exit early. Perhaps FanNation does just put this article out there to stir the pot, but let's be real... Carmelo is an easy target because of his own actions.
