Wild won't rule out Gaborik trade
Marian Gaborik still doesn't know if he wants to sign an extension with the Minnesota Wild or test free agency next July, his agent said Monday. But if Gaborik doesn't want the extension, according to Wild assistant general manager Tom Lynn, the team would have to consider trading its star right winger.

They will be asking a ransom, and I wouldn't pay it due to Gabby's penchant for injury. Like I previously stated, a premium player is only such when he is healthy, and Gaborik is injured quite often.
Having said that, wouldn't it be ridiculous to see him on Crosby's wing?

In spite of his extraordinary skills Marian Gaborik is a paper tiger. Soft and injury prone.
Still, if he goes the UFA route, some do*pey GM is going to give him a truck load of cash.

Wow! If he doesn't want to sign they would have to consider a trade?
Are you kidding me. It's amazing the think tanks that make up the management of hockey teams can come up with a concept like this!
But like I mentioned yesterday, I'd be happy if Cliff could get his mitts on him.

The "Pens signed the #1 scorer from the Finnish Elite league to possibly play with Crosby but, Gaborik would be very sweet.(I'm still pissed Hossa left, those guys would have been awesome with a whols season together)

Baun-ded, Toronto would have to give up a few first-rounders for a player of Gaborik's calibre. Do you really want to trade away Tavares?
I think Ilya Kovalchuk will be traded at the deadline this year. He wants to win and he's frustrated with losing all of the time. Atlanta won't be good this year, they'll trade him for multiple first-rounders.

Can teams trade their coach??? If so MN should try and get something for good ol Jaques..The best they could probably get is a used tampon but it would be an upgrade.....Then have talks with Gaborik about re-signing.. if Mn tries to trade him I doubt they will get much...They will want alot..But I guess it is good to want...

While Gaboirk is fragile he's a known quantity. And when healthy one of the best.
Negative Nellie alert!! I'm not 100% certain Tavares will be better? Unproven so far, potential but no guarantee. All drafts can be a crap shoot. Especially in Toronto.
So maybe a bird in hand would be better?

A lot of these guys are potetial crapshoots. But I agree, some GM is going to throw a boatload for him GMs are like girlfriends in a way, they all think "they can change" whomever it is, no matter what the rep, once THEY have this guy, it'll be different

maybe Vancouver will offer something for him...
I have to admit, I('m one of those that see the upside, and I can't say I'be terribly upset to see him in NYR red white and blue. I'd rather have him than a certain un-named indecisive Swede

Nail hit on head.
But injuries are hard to change. Like with Lindros.
Still I'd take a flyer on Gaborik.

I'm thinking a trade is coming for Gaborik. To keep him the Wild are going to have to throw some serious, serious cash at him and I don't see them throwing around the amount he'll be looking for. Plus I think he'd prefer a more open offensive system.

I dont think he'll be there by seasons end. Big money and personal stats will lead him somewhere else. Minny just taught him how to play defense makes him worth even more.

I'd love to se him in a Penguins uniform...injuries or no. I just dont see Shero taking a chance like the Hossa deal last year and not keeping anything in return for a playoff rental. It would be pretty freakin sweet to see him on Sid's line though.

i dont see th wild making the playoffs this year without rolston so is quite possible he gets traded to a team with young guys to spare looking to sign him long term. or a team like pisburg who'll get rid of more young talent only to not win the cup n not be able to sign him in the offseason (see marion hossa)

Gaborik wants an offensive system,eh? I say he'd be a good fit in Edmonton. They also have the best ice in the league. The only question would be.....who would edmonton give up for him? Ahh nevermind. They're both in the same division. IF he's traded he'd get traded out of the division. Maybe out of the conference as well.
bostongm
I'd love him in Deadmonton but the price would be too steep for him I think. Toronto is another story as they should be in desperation mode.
