All-time Cardinals saves leader Jason Isringhausen walked away from the club Tuesday with what is believed to be a career-threatening torn flexor muscle near his right elbow. Team medical supervisor Dr. George Paletta confirmed the finding to general manager John Mozeliak Tuesday night after reading the results from a magnetic resonance imaging of the elbow, according to sources familiar with the situation. The Brighton, Ill., native knew enough about his condition before leaving Busch Stadium early Tuesday afternoon to inform some club personnel, "I'm done."

Blah blah blah

I knew he was pitching with an injury. The club always denies it and he has never excused poor performance with the fact that he was pitching in serious pain.

I respect him for it. I don't like the way the club handles it. They did the same thing in '06 when his hip was killing him. They denied injury and convinced everyone the problems where lack of command and confidence. Sound familiar?

Thanks for the 217 saves Jason. You've been a great Cardinal who has not been appreciated as much as you've deserved over the years.

Unfortunate that a good career ended on such an awful year.

Hey Tell it, Ten Rings. What was your injury prognostication for Rich Harden again?

I agree CF2.....this year was eerily similar to 2006....enough that made you think he HAD to be pitching hurt. Sounds like he shielded the pain a little bit from Dunc and LaRussa.

It is a shame to see his career end with a year like this......he has always been steady, if never spectacular.

So long, Izzy. Sorry it didn't work out as a starter with us (the Mets), but you had a fine career as a closer. Way to ride it out as long as you could and make a career out of it.
