In what should be the final move of a hectic summer, the Sixers are expected to add veteran center Theo Ratliff. According to a source familiar with the situation, the 6-foot-10 Ratliff has accepted a one-year contract for the veterans' minimum of $1.4 million. Ratliff, 35, had offers for more money but would prefer playing for the Sixers, the source said.

Okay, I'm ther first poster so this may change, but as of right now, the title of this article reads: Ratliff nixes offer to join Sixers. Then of course, the story about him accepting a contract. What to go T&R!

**** and Way to go that means ;) Get the headline with the story at least!

August 20, 2008  08:15 AM ET

Agreed! I was surprised when I saw this headline considering the local news had reported him signing, then I read the story. Dopes.

He is going to Europe. The obvious choice. Just like Shawn Kemp and Pargo.

it says "Nixes offers"... as in offers from other teams.. to join the Sixers

What team(s) were the offers that he nixed from?

August 20, 2008  08:41 AM ET

Somebody need to attend some elementary English classes. In my language "nix" means to reject something... not sign a contract.

I don't know why you do either :-)

Title means: "Ratliff [rejects other offers and] joins the Sixers". It's clumbsy but accurate. You shouldn't have to decipher the title of the article.

August 20, 2008  09:15 AM ET

it should have sad nixes OTHER offers. yes, it's clumsy and confusing but accurate, though not well-written. not unlike myself!
