Pryor's unusual throwing motion

Terrelle Pryor does have an obviously different throwing motion from his high school days. That could be seen a bit at Ohio State's first practice two weeks ago and was more obvious on Monday night. He was much more of a slinger from a three-quarters motion before, and is now right over the top. He looked comfortable in the pocket in the scrimmage portions of practice. But you can still see what the possibilities are when he runs. He threw out a juke at the line during a 7-on-7 drill and didn't look like a quarterback. He also showed that ability to roll away from pressure. If he can throw on the run after all those moves, that will freeze defenses. He stepped up in the pocket on one throw, then stopped and seemed to float a sideline route that was almost picked. But he followed that up with a bullet on a crossing route. On another play, he rolled out to the right and overthrew an open sideline pass. He missed another short, quick out on a play from the 5-yard line. Yes, he can throw, as Jim Tressel effused after Saturday's scrimmage. But it seemed to me, from one practice, that starter Todd Boeckman is definitely more consistently accurate right now, which is no surprise.

The kid is talented but green..........and Boeckman is better prepared right now? Wow, who would have ever guessed that?

Big difference between game and practice. Time will tell

This ttitle is a little misleading, because this article is mostly positive.

TP is a fountain of talent and if coached right will be a force in the Big 10. But like all High schoolers, practice means nothing until they prove it when it really matters during a game. TP has a very good shot at becoming something more special than Tebow, and this is coming from a Wolverine fan.

Wake me when a school in the SEC finally realizes their conference isnt the greatest thing to ever happen to college football.

Strange throwing motion? I bet he stops his arm mid-throw, turns and tilts his head towards the camera, and gives a big smile. This kid sure maximized his media time, time will tell if he maximizes his playing time.

Wake me when your name actually makes sense. A dynasty? Really?

August 20, 2008  10:18 AM ET

You who else had a strange throwing motion? Vince Young.

I think he should've gone to Michigan, but Ohio State is a better career move b/c spread option QB's might not or haven't panned out in the NFL.

August 20, 2008  10:26 AM ET

He is a Freshman with no pressure on him. OSU has changed his throwing motion and there are going to be growing pains.

LSU fans are bitter because he had no real interest in going there. How is Ryan Perriloux doing? One should not throw stones who live in a glass house..

Wake me up when LSU comes across the Mason-Dixon line to actually play a decent school.

Clubbin, they play App State on 8/30 amd Troy on 9/6

Definately, the kid will need some seasoning, but he has the tools.

LSU does not miss Ryan Perrilloux.
We never thought Pryor would have any interest in playing down South.
You are a complete moron for thinking LSU doesnt play anyone.

Ohio State gets a dismantled USC team, and if they win they go to the national championship game because their schedule is a complete JOKE. That's ok, you'll get another beatdown in January. congratulations.
