What Dolphins want for Beck

The Dolphins continue to shop John Beck and indicated they would like a fourth-round pick in return but are unlikely to get that, an NFC executive said this week. ''I could see them getting a late-round pick, maybe conditional,'' a second NFC executive said. ''Last year was a disaster and he [turns] 27'' on Thursday. As perspective, one official noted Cleveland received a sixth-rounder last September from Seattle for former starter Charlie Frye, the 67th pick of the 2005 draft. Beck was drafted 40th in 2007.

Good luck with that! I don't think that the Bears would give a seventh rounder for him and they are desperate for a QB!

As badly as we need a backup QB, I doubt JJ would give up a 4th for him, at least I hope not!

August 20, 2008  07:09 AM ET

Who is the backup in Dallas anyway? LOL!

August 20, 2008  07:25 AM ET

The Dolphins may have to settle for 'a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.' Doesn't look as though anyone would want to give up what they are asking for.

I have a couple of old hockey sticks and some extra pots and pans.
Does he do windows?

August 20, 2008  07:50 AM ET

4th round? No. Maybe a 6th or 7th round pick.

August 20, 2008  08:00 AM ET

Does anyone need an unproven guy as a backup? Maybe Minnasota, but they are better off with Simms or who ever the Pats release than paying for Beck.

August 20, 2008  08:02 AM ET

The poor guy can't even win the starting job on the Dolphins!
I've decided to be magnanimous and up my offer. I will throw in a bag of pucks and two rolls of tape. I will also drop the house cleaning requirements.
What can I say, I'm a nice guy.

They are not going to get anything for him..

who is going to give up something for a QB that even the lowly fins don't want....if the worst team in the league is trying to get rid of you, why would a better team take you?

unproven qbs in the nfl don't have much value. beck might be worth a 4th rounder someday, but nobody knows if he is worth that today.

Same reason why the Patriots wanted Corey Dillon.

August 20, 2008  09:09 AM ET

Maybeif the Dolphins offered to give a 4th runder WITH Beck they could get somebody to take him off their hands.

thanks cam cameron ...nice draft 2 yrs ago....geez

Legacy - great analysis. So the Dolphins added Jake Long, the #1 offensive lineman in the draft, and what have all of their quarterbacks done in practice and in preseason? Shown some of the worst football known to man.

Beck is a #3 guy. He's a holder for FGs. Let it go, man.

Ah, the droppings another fine Dolphin draft.
