Hasselbeck out rest of preseason?

There's a chance Matt Hasselbeck won't see any game action until the regular season starts. No one at Seahawks headquarters Wednesday confirmed that was the case, but it doesn't seem like the team wants to take any chances with the health of its star quarterback. Hasselbeck has taken part in just one full practice since hurting his back on a throw during the first quarter of the exhibition game against Minnesota Aug. 8. He did some drills last Thursday and went through all of Monday's session at the team's new headquarters, but he walked off the field about halfway through Tuesday's session with tightness in his back.

why risk any of your vet starters that have injury issues in the pre-season?

August 21, 2008  06:53 AM ET

Common sense approach. Seems like a lot of players this year are having back problems. LOL, to many side distractions?

August 21, 2008  08:13 AM ET

so many quality qbs injured this year... dam

August 21, 2008  08:40 AM ET

what? ... don't trust the offensive line to protect him? ... another reason the preseason is too long.

August 21, 2008  09:51 AM ET

If Hasselbeck is injured, the Seahawks' season is done.

Bring back V.A.

so what...

August 21, 2008  11:15 AM ET

Now if the story was about him not playing in the regular season you would have something. But this is just garbage to fill up space

August 21, 2008  11:49 AM ET

Just being cautious... But I would like to fight him...

Maybe Charlie Fry will get a chance at redemption. NOT!

BUCKGUY, you're the one readin' and respondin'. If Hasselback's booboo is irrelevant, maybe you should spend your time memorizing the OSU depth chart.

I have a tightness in my gut about this year's playoffs. Seattle 35, Minnesota 21.

August 21, 2008  06:02 PM ET

Well the preseason is to long anyways. The only players that really should be playing in the preseason are the ones that had gotten injured last year like a rehab assignment in baseball, the rookies, and the guys trying to make the 53 man roster. No need to get a star player hurt in the preseason

the amount of injuries in football makes me sick and not want to watch.

I tend to doubt you will even have to worry about the Vikings - Maybe they will make the playoffs next year ot the year after that !!!

Matt doesnt need any more preseason going thru the motions. He will be ready for when the real season starts and the Seahawks one and done playoff ride eventually ends.
