The Phillies might be on the verge of adding a third wheel to their catching tandem. David Ross, released by Cincinnati on Monday, is expected to clear waivers today and become a free agent. The Phillies and Boston are interested, Fox Sports reported. A team source confirmed the Phils are talking about adding Ross, who possibly would get a chance to compete for playing time with starter Carlos Ruiz and often-used backup Chris Coste.

The timing of your released is very important. You also have to be good enough that a contender will want to add you to the 40 man roster; but, suck enough that your current team no longer wants you at all.

Go to Boston..

August 21, 2008  07:26 AM ET

He got cut by the Reds. So, he like sucks. Just retire or no there are other teams that need a catcher of this caliber.

He looks like some twisted Christmas dinner with the ball appearing to be in his mouth....

Yeah, this is probably the best sports picture ive seen in the past 2.438 years.

Why add more crap to a **** stew? Seriously this gy won't be of any help, just let Coste play it out.
