Ratliff happy to be in Philly
Theo Ratliff may have physically left Philly, but the memories made here never left him. One day after officially signing back with the 76ers, where Ratliff played from 1997-2001, the 6-foot-10 veteran of 13 NBA seasons spoke about returning to the city he never wanted to leave. "It's a great opportunity to be back to a place that is near and dear to my heart," said Ratliff, who signed a one-year deal for the veteran minimum of $1.4 million. "I wasn't very happy to leave under the circumstances I left. Through the years, wherever I've been, I've had people comment about the Philly days and people saying I never should have left that team."

Should be very happy. There's not much expectation from him. He will come off the bench and try to do his job. That's to play defense.

Lean, athletic defenders are to the NBA what paunchy left-handed relievers are to MLB.
