Livingston a fit with Lakers?
As crowded as the guard spot appears to be, it would not hurt the Lakers to take a long look at Shaun Livingston, who has been playing five-on-five, for at least the past week and a half, at fitness trainer Tim Grover's Attack Athletics facility in Chicago. Clippers athletic trainer Jasen Powell confirmed Wednesday that Livingston has progressed to playing full-scale, full-court pickup games with the contingent of 20 or so NBA players that work out regularly at Grover's site. The 22-year old Livingston has spent the bulk of this summer working out there, primarily because the Clippers declined to extend a qualifying offer to him for the 2008-2009 season, then subsequently renounced their rights to him. Livingston is an unrestricted free agent.

I know the Heat have inquired about him. I would be interested in seeing how his progression is coming, I am surprised ESPN isnt following this guy around with a detail video documentary of his extensive rehab. If they can follow Beasley around they can follow Shaun.

PG is overloaded in the Lakers but if you can get this guy at the very minimum then he is worth the try. He has so much to prove and this season is a make or break season for him. He probably needs to change his game style where he probably can post up smaller PGs and shoot outside consistently. The PG is not really a PG in the triangle offense. The PG position is usually a spot up shooter position.

I agree guam....with your 1st part regarding minimum wage...
But these kids can't 'change their game' - he's not just going to develop a pure shot.....if it were that easy EVERYONE would have one-
and as for posting up- he's like 12 lbs- if he gets hurt on the wng, he'll get demolished on the blocks.....
the kid needs to ride pine for 1-2 years, get stronger and once he physically develops, he can TRY and get into the rotation

yeah he's def worth it if he comes at a low cost. he had such potential... but if i had to choose from Livingston or Jay Williams... I would go with Jay williams... both had horrible knee injuries but jay is def a better shooter.
but then again Jay Williams sucked in the Triagle Offense. lol sorry i'm a Jay Williams support even though he quit on his NBA career due to his injury.. he should of just went to Euro ball. I went to school with the guy... great kid... so much potential... oh well!
anyway... livingston needs to put on so weight first... needs to bulk up... maybe his knee wouldn't have given out like that

Even being, as already said, completely overloaded at guard, D-Fish is a pretty elderly guy. Injuries and/or the need to slow down his playing time will eventually come around. Get this kid as a project (A Much better project than DJ MBenga I might add) and let him devolop under the staff. What could it hurt? The 12th man almost never plays, why not let the 12th man be a devolopmental roll? I guess I'm just saying that it isn't going to hurt you either way, if he is too far gone to come back from injury, then cut him, if not, let him grow.

As a Laker fan I can tell you that I'd hate to watch an injury like his last one regardless of what team he's on but if we can get him at a super bargain price and see how he works, I'm alright with it. I still can't get the image of his knee out of my head. Ouch!

I'm not for this move. The Lakers are good enough at point guard as it is.

If Livingston is serious about trying to catch on somewhere, He would be better off going to Europe for a year. After establishing that he is indeed healthy, he would be more likely to find someone willing to take a chance on him, and open up their pocketbook. He's young and has time.

I agree with Hllywd. Go to Europe. Prove that you are healthy and you can get an opportunity next season.

It would be better if Livingston goes to other teams that needs PG. Miami, Seattle, Indiana, Houston, etc should be good choices. Lakers just signed the Chinese Magic Johnson so that means that he might have to play behind him.

If they want another questionable knee injury player on the team, why not? Livingston won't be able to provide the help they need.

The Shogun of Harlem- Sho'nuff | 08/22/08
The real Sho'Nuff, Shogun of Harlem, would never even speak of losing a fight, he'd make him kiss his Converse. I guess that fight with the serious, elusive Leroy Green that did him in. He had been waiting a long time for that fight with Leroy. He was sick and tired of hearing these B.S. Superman stories about the wassaaaaa legendary Bruce Leroy catching bullets with his teeth. Catches bullets with his teeth? [racial word removed for FanNation purposes for this movie quote] please!
