Jets protect Favre from media

The Jets offensive linemen are not the only members of the organization responsible for protecting Brett Favre. Thursday, one notebook covering the Jets approached Favre in the locker room to casually introduce herself and make small talk. Suddenly, according to two sets of eyeballs, Jets PR types interceded to break up the impromptu session, scolding the inquiring mind for daring to approach the quarterback. While their reaction is reminiscent of the Secret Service swooping in to protect the President, it should come as no surprise. When Favre arrived at Jets camp, a rule was immediately set: He would give no one-on-one interviews.

They were afraid Brett Might engage himself in a mental exercise involving a complicated set of variables to coordinate.
You know like if she asked him:
"Hey Brett what do you think about playing for the jets so far?"

not even the SS could have protected Eli by week 3 last year.

Prima freakin' Donna. Made a bad decision and now is too afraid to talk about it. Guess we'll know for sure in that first game. Hope he gets his.

August 22, 2008  08:31 AM ET

Why would I not want anyone from the Jets " brain trust" in charge of PR for me?

August 22, 2008  08:32 AM ET

This is good for Brett because he doesn't want to think, just react...

August 22, 2008  08:42 AM ET

a bottle of scotch and Namith one on one is much more interesting.

August 22, 2008  08:48 AM ET

Anyone who has ever read Canizzaro or King (in regards to the Jets, that is) can totally understand this decision.

August 22, 2008  09:12 AM ET

Mangini is no genius that's for sure.

TwoStep - Would that be David Gilmore?

jackman, you've got a good eye! That sure is Gilmour, he's the one that got me to pick up a guitar so many years ago.

August 22, 2008  09:49 AM ET

The Jets don't want Favre speaking to the media because he says too much. He's not "trained" to tow the company line like Manturd wants. He speaks his mind, e.g. "I'd like simpler plays.", "The playbook is too hard", "blah, blah, blah".
