Trade rumors worry Wilson

Jack Wilson, the Pirates' most tenured player and one of the finest shortstops in franchise history, is worried that he will not be playing in Pittsburgh next spring. "Honestly, I don't know what's going to happen with me this offseason. I really don't. So, yeah, you go out on the field with that feeling that, hey, this might be my last month and a half in a Pittsburgh uniform. And I want to end it as well as I can."

Worried? Why would he be worried about leaving a team that doesn't even pretend to work towards contention?

Timing, Location, and Money.....playing for Pittsburgh, priceless.

Hmmm- replacement for Renteria perhaps?

That WOULD be a nice pickup

He should not be worried, he should be looking forward to trying to get on a team that might be in the hunt this time of year.

If Jack Wilson is one of your best SS's in franchise history, you are in trouble.

August 22, 2008  10:26 AM ET

As a Bucos fan, I am completely discouraged with this team, I can't imagine whatit's like to play on that team. Get while the gettings good Jack, try to win for once in your careeer.

I don't know why he'd be worried......there have been trade rumors swirling around him for 3 years....so I think he'd be able to tune it out by now.

Of course Jayhawk, the Pirates can claim the greatest SS in all of baseball history - Honus Wagner.

I could see it happening with the direction the Tigers are going to want to take. They aren't going to keep Renteria unless we can snare this kid perhaps. And even then if we don't get him I still wonder if Renteria stays on the books...

When you click on a players name in T&R, it would be nice if it showed that player's stats for the year instead of only his details from the last 5 games. And then when you click the link to look at the stats for the season, you still only see the individual game stats. What idiot decided that's what people would want to see?

Nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't want to play in the pressure cooker/circus call New York. The big show doesn't seem to be good for some of those Yankee superstars, now does it? And Manny sure seems happy to be out of Boston.

Seriously- you ARE form Kenosha right cause that is a pretty back water comment- Manny being happy anywhere lasts only as long as his contract...

I never implied Manny would stay happy/ Just that he was happy to leave Boston despite winning championships there.
