Preds give Radulov deadline
The Predators have given Alexander Radulov until Sept. 1 to decide whether to play with Nashville for the final year of his NHL contract or face suspension by the team. Predators General Manager David Poile said a letter was sent to Radulov and agent Jay Grossman on Tuesday informing them of the deadline. The move was made not to force Radulov to return, but to bring closure to a situation that has drawn international attention because of its implications for an international transfer agreement between the Russian and North American leagues. Nashville retains Radulov's rights for one more NHL season, whether he plays this year or sometime in the future. Poile said the suspension will be "upheld until we choose to withdraw it," but that it is intended to last the entire year. Radulov will not receive any salary in that time. He was scheduled to be compensated $984,200 this season. His Russian contract is worth a reported $13 million, tax-free. "We would re-address it next year if he wants to come back," Poile said.

Hhahhahaha. Radulov doesnt want to come back to the NHL. Now the Preds are saying he's suspended? Its like a guy saying i quit right after the employer says "you're fired". This is the dumbest article.
It would be sweet for the Preds to say get lost when and if the KHL goes under. Radulov also signed the contract BEFORE the trasnfer agreement was signed!!!!

This story doesn't mention the interesting aspects.
First, there is the fact that the NHL and the Continental League just inked a deal to handle player pirating. Then this went down. Or had gone down but wasn't reported.
And the deal is amazing. He may make that for three years? Tax free? So he walks? And what of the work of our most excellent NHL management and legal minds?
Do I smell another Georgia? Is Spiny leading the Russkies in some twisted plot to get Bettman?
Seriously, Russia has too much oil - on their flipping brains! The problem for Alex is that the fine may be collected before the whole 13 million shows.
