Manny: I wasn't comfortable in Boston

Manny Ramirez likes to be comfortable, and says he never really was in Boston. "I couldn't breathe there; it's a small city and all on top of you. Here it's spread out. I love it. I went out for sushi, sat back on a couch and no one cared. It's like there's 20 pounds less on my back here." And yet, here he is carrying the Dodgers, an air of excitement in the stadium again, and while the bitter folks in Boston might consider it fool's gold, who are they kidding?

Can you say new contratc drive? Boras has Manny doing big time damage control and creating an image that presents the product that is Manny as best that the uberagent and his client can, as they head into free agency.

^^ Exactly ^^

There are plenty of teams besides Boston with room to give Manny over 20 Mil per season.

Poor Manny! He wasnt comfortable. For $20 million a year, I'd be comfortable on a bed of nails!

bc when he was in boston fans looked at him like a "god" and would bother him ever chance they got in public. but in LA it doesnt matter bc there are probably about 4 or 5 more popular celebs in the stands at games. him being in LA is good bc he isnt the center of attention with all the other yahoos out there.

The weird thing is, Manny chose to purchase a condo on top of the Ritz, smack dab in the middle of downtown Boston.......

If he had gone just a few short miles west he could have lived somewhere where deer, turkey and the odd moose or two ramble through your backyard......

Here is classic damage control. Boras got to him and told him that after trying to submarine a world series championship caliber team, he'd better be on his best behavior. Other teams already know though, if he isn't happy, he will mail it in. He won't get the money that was in the options for Boston, but Boras will be happy because he wasn't going to make any money if Manny stayed in Boston, so dollar 1 is more than he was going to get. Here is my prediction: Signs with Dodgers for 3/42, Boras gets his 4.2 million and Manny mails it in within year 1.

Also, lets not forget that no one cares in LA anyway.

ANd yet didn't Boras tell Boston Manny would be willing to come back there next season?

Manny better not get too comfortable in L.A.He'll be playing somewhere else next season.Whoever chooses to buy Manny's love after this season "Caveat Emptor" .He'll quit on that team just like he did on the Red Sox.

They don't care because they don't care.... Baseball is a sideshow, and so is Manny. Good luck, missing the playoffs, and having Scott pimping you around the street corners of the league, Manny.... Run after the carrot on the stick, Manny,,,, You can't buy rings...

Manny is no angel, but he has a valid point here that so many fans who live in the Northeast, the markets of NYC Tri-State Area, Philadelphia, and Boston and root for those teams within can't seem to grasp. It's a completely different world outside of NYC and Boston when it comes to sports fandom and sports media. Here in the Northeast, collectively we the fans and the media are out of our minds. We are ignorant, arrogant, and impatient about our teams. As a Padres fan who is a New Jersey native and is still stuck there, it is so refreshing when I go to San Diego to see a game there. People are actually civil and relaxed, yet just as knowledgable about the game as anyone else. It's no wonder so many guys have trade blocks/vetos in their contracts to the markets in the Northeast.
