Legein pondering NHL future

Stefan Legein and Doug Woods met Friday morning in Oakville, Ontario, to discuss Legein's hockey future. For the short term, nothing has changed. "He won't be attending (Blue Jackets) training camp," Woods told The Dispatch. "He taking time to think things over. "In my opinion, Stefan just wants to take a break. He's tired from all the things he's gone through the last two seasons, all the tournaments, the games, the shoulder injury ... all that stuff. He feels like he needs some time and space." Woods was adamant that Legein is not suffering from anything other than loss of passion and energy. There are no health issues, he said. There is no family or personal crises. The Blue Jackets are not going to beg him to play. That's rather unbecoming of a pro sports franchise, especially one with lots of prospects coming up the pipeline. Still, I'm led to believe that Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson will reach out to Legein after a sufficient amount of time passes.

Give the kid some time to figure out what he wants, but not too much time. The BJ's shouldn't worry too much unless they planned on him playing in the big time this year. Kid just probably needs a break. The burn out thing could worry you about him in an 82 game schedule and possible playoffs though.

Was this really the only story they could find to fill a slot today? There are more intereseting hockey stories than this in my local newspaper - And I live in San Diego where hockey is a distant 47th on the sports depth chart.

Lucky you are, Yoda. I live in Warsaw where hockey is a distant 234th on the sports depth chart and therefore there are no hockey news in a local newspaper ;)

hes probly got a highschool education that would land him a $15/hr phone center job or get your **** out of bed and go to practice and make millions.... pretty sure he'll be on the ice... just needs some time to recharge the batteries..

the 18 year old kid doesn't have to be an ice hockey player, but he does have to be an 18 year old kid. Leave him alone, let him be, things will work out.
