Pryor will play often for OSU

It seemed little could eclipse the notoriety Ohio State received for reaching two straight BCS title games. Probably nothing deserves to, but Terrelle Pryor has broken all the rules. The nation's super quarterback recruit is now a Buckeye. His coronation may not occur immediately because Ohio State already has a quarterback, Todd Boeckman, who reached that BCS game last year. But it's safe to say Pryor will play often as a freshman. Normally reserved coach Jim Tressel conceded the possibility last month at the Big Ten media gathering.

Like they need any more talent up there in Bucknut Land...I guess we will all have to get used to tOSU being in the NC game the next few years.

I can't wait to see this kid play.......I hope he lives up to all the hype.

August 23, 2008  10:38 AM ET

It is going to be exciting to this the Buckeyes over the next 3 seasons. A Vince Young type QB at Ohio State -- scary.

August 23, 2008  11:19 AM ET

I've got to admit, after this kid's recruiting circus, I wanted to see him falter at OSU. It doesn't look like that's going to happen, he appears to be the real deal. Congrats Buckeye fans, and my condolences to the rest of the Big 10.

Wait until he "runs into" Mr. Rey Mauluga on Sept. 13...

This kid is making alot of OSU fans excited... let's hope he can live up to all the hype and pressure!

I have alot of bets on the USC/OSU matchup sept.13. Let's hope beanie and the gang will play their hardest and come out with a W!! I live in Orlando and they're a bunch of haters. (in gator country)

"Wait until he "runs into" Mr. Rey Mauluga on Sept. 13..."

He might as well be on the bench EastCoastKeith, along with Sanchez and McKnight, and all the other thong wearing, jock itch infested players too.

August 23, 2008  12:32 PM ET

Well, it kinda depends on what Ohio state wants to do, if they want to get him some playing time and try to run more of a spread (which teams like USC, and LSU seem to struggle against a little more) he'll get alot of playing time.

August 23, 2008  12:32 PM ET

The Buckeye's are going to go undefeated and win the National Championship and thats the bottom line cuz Tressel said so...

It seems most people aren't giving USC much of a chance against Ohio State but last time I looked USC was ranked right behind Ohio State. Furthermore the game is being played in L.A. I figure Ohio State will be a 3 point underdog at gametime. These are the kind of games college football is all about. Pryor should get lots of snaps the first 2 tune-up games for OSU assuming they become blowouts as expected.

I totally agree that OSU is an underdog in this game which is right where they want to be. Prior is a freak and I hate to say it but Im scared of the next 3 years as a wolverine fan. Props to Prior for pulling a fast one on PSU and UM even though he knew where he was going for a year. I have never seen a performance like prior's in the army all american game, a true freak

Hey annarbor, don't worry too much. Funny thing about the Game is just when you think you own the other team the tide turns. Remember the John Cooper years. I think his record against Michigan was 2-11. Michigan won't be as bad as everyone thinks, they are still michigan. Lets get West Virginia into the big ten and have a east and west division. East: OSU, PSU, WV, MSU, Indiana and Northwestern. West: Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Purdue, Minnesota, Illinois and have a championship game.

If WVa joined the Big 10, their glory days would be over...just like with Penn State but much worse. If the Domers had any sense they would join the party, heck they already play 3 Big Ten Teams!

As for Pryor, he seems to be a pretty smart kid as well as super talented. At UM he would have had a ton of pressure as a freshman with an O-line that may not have been able to protect him. At OSU, he can pick his spots and use his talents appropriately. Let's see rebuild or have a legit shot at a NC ring as a 1st year? That is a no-brainer.

river,
I think proximity to home was a big part of it as well. But you are right, the UM qb is going to be on his back alot this year.

I dont like the idea of a championship game because it hurts the big tens chances at sending someone to the chapionship. It is also played every year around november 17th

August 23, 2008  02:19 PM ET

I think i would like to see Rutgers before WVU yoo, it is a land grant school and that is what the big ten is all about

August 23, 2008  02:43 PM ET

this guy is the next superman. the Lebron james of football. It's going to be awesome dudes..... f yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only reason Ohio State is ranked in the top ten is because they don't play anybody well, almost anybody, they do have a couple of real games. OSU does have very talented players because where else are they suppose to go play? OSU just needs to learn how not to choke in the big games before being considered a top ten team every year
