Miami heating up for Boozer?
Dorell Wright's guaranteed two-year deal left the Heat with a little more than $50 million in 2009-10 contracts for 10 players (only Daequan Cook's $1.3 million is at Miami's option). That means -- unless multiyear deals are dumped -- the Heat likely will have a little more than $11 million next summer (if Shawn Marion isn't re-signed) to pursue a free agent such as Carlos Boozer. (The Heat has told people it can see Michael Beasley playing small forward eventually, allowing a pairing with Boozer.) Miami has $32 million committed for 2010-11.

Looks as if Miami may wait one year and then worsen their franchise yet again.
Because they think Beasley is better at small forward, they will try to work around him, get rid of Marion, and get Boozer to fill the spot at power forward.
The problem is that Marion is a better all-around player than both Beasley and Boozer.
If Miami is smart, they should work around trying to keep Marion, and trade Beasley for Boozer instead.
Hllywd - what's your take on Riley and Company messing things up in Miami?

Seems as though everytime there is nothing to report on the mess Pat Riley has made of the Heat, The Miami Herald comes up with a "what if" scenario involving Boozer. The Heat will have trouble keeping Wade and Marion. Why would Boozer leave a contender to board a trainwreck trying to become relevant?

if the bulls get their shi+ togethor and get wade they are gonna have even bigger problems
the heat have some decent talent despite rileys mess but no way this team has any chemistry left whatsoever

Beasley isn't a power forward so at least they know that much. Boozer, Beasley and Wade..... that team might actually win 30 games. IF it happens hahaha.

Jay L hit the nail on the head....Marion is a better all around player than Boozer he can shoot 3's rbs, assists & blocks & free throws , Boozer cant shoot let him stay with the jazz!

Yeah, but Marion is out of his mind in wanting max-deal type money. He's also locker-room poision. Why do you think the Suns were so eager to move him? He's unsustainable for the Heat and not a franchise-type player. He wouldn't stay for $11 mil, but a player like Boozer might.
Also, I really think that the Heat will surprise people with Chalmers, Wade, Beasley, OHMYGODTHEYNEEDACENTER, and Marion next season. If they can trade for a decent big man this is easily the type of team that could go far into the Eastern playoffs. Even if they don't, I can see them going .500 next season.

I think the Heat should keep Marion, he may have an uggly shot, but it goes in. And he plays awesome defense and is a great rebounder on top of that.

jay l, if the suns couldn't win it all with the trio of nash marion and amare, what makes you think that the heat would win with the trio of wade marion and boozer? riley needs to hold on to beasly and got against his natural instinct to trade away rookies and get a team full of aged vets. beasly is a special player, and with the addition of chalmers the heat have the makings of a very nice back court.

Beasley is an NBA small forward. So I have no real beef with them targeting Boozer.

because the heat are 1 player away from being a good squad, and miami is an excellent franchise and venue to play for. who doesnt want to live in miami as opposed to ANYWHERE in Utah? There isnt any "trouble" keeping marion. They arent trying to keep marion. They dont need marion. They need to him to play his **** off since hes in a contract year, raise his trade value, and get some big men in the post. Then they can atleast compete. What marion brings to the table isnt what they need. they dont need ballhandling or passing, they have that with wade, chalmers, and beasley. They need a big body to d-up in the post and snatch rebounds. Also, i dont understand the overwhelming obsession with the matrix. all of his stats were boosted because of nash and because his athleticism meshed perfectly with the d'antoni system

Dude; you can't possibly be watching the same Heat team everybody else is seeing. This team has 3 maybe 4 players. They are a lot more than 1 player away. Most of them would be D-Leaguers if it wasn't for Riley. You've got no center, a rookie learning the point, a front office that should have been blown up, a new coach, and no bench. The only reason this team will inmprove this year is because 15-67 is hard to do 2 years in a row. Free agent movement is about getting into position to win championships (in most cases) At this stage of his career, I doubt if Boozer would be interested in a rebuilding project.
Marion is a stud. The core of this team should remain intact. It is Riley's bonehead moves that have them in the position they're in. In short, this team is a mess, and will likely remain a mess for the next 4 or 5 years.

I have to disagree, Hllywd.
This year, the Heat have a very capable bench, from Quinn to Cook to Barron/Blount, the bench can DO ITS JOB. If the Heat get Magloire, he'll let Mourning rest but they will still start Mourning.
This way, they can easily be a 35+ win team.
Not like that is a standard of measure, but still, it's better than they were.
