Should Browns ditch brown pants?

Browns fans didn't have much to cheer for in the preseason loss to the Giants last Monday, but it wasn't just the performance that had the fans upset. The issue, it seems, was the club's decision to wear chocolate-brown pants for the first time in franchise history. The fashion statement was met with negativity among the fan base, which likely means the pants are facing early retirement.

Who cares about the pants. Ditch Romeo!!!!! Romeo should never have been a head coach and he should give his check every week to Bill for making him look good in New England.

Go Browns!!!!!

Could hide other stains.

not sure why the boston globe's nfl blog was used as the source for this story. the whole "story" is linked in the summary above. there's probably 9000 more words in the above linked article that have nothing to do with the above story.

use google search terms and the news option, next time you want a source. this looks as if the editor/submitter was lazy or advertising boston.com blog.

Great ... why don't they just get the Queer Eye guys to make them new uniforms.

Too much estacy last night? The Browns will be 0-1 after the first game of the season. It will be pretty much downhill from there too.

Can I have some of what you're smoking?

well at least the brown pants match the name, now could some one explain the orange helmets?

August 24, 2008  09:05 AM ET

Those pants look a lil flammish to me...

August 24, 2008  09:06 AM ET

Now in Chicago, The 10 wins last season the records of those 10 teams combined was under .500. The 6 losses the combined record of those teams was over .500. So they beat the teams they should beat with the talent that they have. But, if you watched last season the game plans in those six loses they looked lost and that is Romeo fault. This preseason the Browns have not done any hitting in practice and looked like it in the Gaints game. Romeo fault!!! Score 30-3 burn for a TD and when Wright had the INT and started dancing around in the end zone did Romeo pull him aside and talk to him he has nothing to be dancing about NO. Did any coach NO. Romeo fault. I can go on and on. Romeo is not a head coach!!!!

I've been wondering this as long as I've been a football fan. Should just call them the Cleveland Oranges.

go back to the white pants and wear the "all whites" at home the classy way it was done when they were playing Marty ball in the 80s.

August 24, 2008  09:47 AM ET

Aren't home uniforms in the NFL dark and white on the road? I could be mistaken but I thought the pic above was taken in Detroit.

August 24, 2008  09:51 AM ET

Many teams recently in the past 20 years have chosen white at home for the novelty or because of the heat issue. Dallas, Wshington, Philly, Miami, Cleveland and sometimes Jacksonville wore white at home. I could be forgetting a few others, but most teams prefer the dark jerseys. The NHL, on the other hand, cannot seem to make up its mind as it changes every year it seems.

August 24, 2008  10:04 AM ET

Steelers in MD, I beg to difffer my friend. The NHL wore white at home for many many years before recently changing to the dark jerseys at home. The "third" jerseys kind of messed with that, but overall, they've been pretty consistent.

There was a study done maybe 15 - 20 years ago that found the darker colored uniforms had a more 'menacing' effect. Go figure.

Yeah they said that about the Raiders uniforms, now everyone wants
to include 'blank" to be thought of as bad, learn to play,
forget color of pants.

Blank = Black !!!
