Pennington tired of weak arm talk

Pelted with potshots about his arm strength since two shoulder surgeries in 2005, Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington has heard enough. ''The perception is that way because I never defended myself -- I just let people talk,'' he said in a private moment last week. ''But it's perception -- it's not reality. You get tired of hearing about it.''

Well Chad, only one way to prove them wrong, and it's not with talk.

Chad, play like Brady did lat year. Then the fans will rip you for something else.

August 24, 2008  07:50 AM ET

his longest td pass in his career occurred in 2006. but chad's never been known to thrown the length of the field. pre injury or post recovery.

August 24, 2008  07:53 AM ET

It isn't perception Pennington it is fact. Since I have been forced to watch as my second NFL game the Jets almost every single week I have seen Pennington play pretty much his entire career. His receivers last year were being mauled almost every pass play as the defenders had so much time to make a play for the ball. It was pathetic.

During a press conference, Chad hurled an insult to a reporter but it fell short.

August 24, 2008  08:39 AM ET

Get in the weight room, Chad.

August 24, 2008  08:40 AM ET

And stop whining - you have a weak arm but your arm is still strong enough than lots of other people to be getting paid in the NFL and STARTING for a team.

Try Viagra, (did I miss the insinuation?).

August 24, 2008  08:57 AM ET

little late to jump on the Balco bandwagon, try throwing a ball further than 25 yards down feild. he is definatly not 6 foot 5, 230 pounds with a laser rocket arm.

August 24, 2008  09:02 AM ET

Who cares the new JET has a rocket arm!! Had to put my Brett comment in here havent seen anything on him yet today

August 24, 2008  09:06 AM ET

Just play and prove them wrong Chad...

August 24, 2008  09:41 AM ET

If I outplayed a dude that I just got replaced with two of the last three years I would be a little tired of criticism as well.

August 24, 2008  09:54 AM ET

Amen, Diva ... the only way to answer now is on the field.

Calm down......its only preseason, and it was only the Chiefs.

The scouting reports on him are accurate. It is all on film for all to see. But that does not mean he cannot be a successful QB. He just has to stay with what he can do. Being away from the Meadow Lands will help. The winds there have made a lot of QBs look bad.

That's really not saying much. 5 - 10 would be a major improvement.

Montana didn't have a rocket arm.

Montana was probably the smartest QB of his era, though.
