Will Giants reach out to Strahan?

Osi Umenyiora, one of the most important Giants as they attempt to defend their Super Bowl title, went down and was in tremendous pain when he injured his left knee in the second quarter Saturday night against the Jets. If the injury to turns out to be serious, the Giants need to pick up the phone. There is only one call to make: Bring back Michael Strahan. The Giants need to reach out to Strahan, one of their all-time greats, and sweet-talk him back from retirement. GM Jerry Reese surely has his number as one of his Fave Fives.

Didn't his ex-wife take all of his money? Just pay him

that Back-Up Warning Alarm will be waking up his neighbors this morning. brink's trucks always move slow in reverse.

August 24, 2008  08:18 AM ET

No panic yet.........this article is purely conjecture. Aint happening. Look at NE for panic...I know its meaningless but I like seeing 0-3.

August 24, 2008  08:49 AM ET

there will be some panic in NE Week 2 when they lose to the Jets. Early Bye week is going to be rough too - 13 games in a row without a break. They have a super-soft schedule though. Roger Goodell probably set it up that way so they could make another run at the Super Bowl since they bring in ratings and more money for Roger's wallet.

August 24, 2008  08:51 AM ET

looking more and more like the G men will not make the playoffs, just like after their last three superbowl appearances. they must be snake bit.

August 24, 2008  08:52 AM ET

Its bad when you beat the hell out of everyone for one year and them come back the next and play only one playoff team.

August 24, 2008  09:02 AM ET

dont see him coming back because he is happy now and is really just done
he got his ring and thats the only thing he wanted

August 24, 2008  09:04 AM ET

I hope Osi's injury is not serious..However, I don't see them calling Strahan back..

August 24, 2008  09:22 AM ET

The last thing the Giants will do is panic as Kiwanuka will, if needed, step in and do the job. Strahan's not the answer. And lose to he Jets in week 2? Please - that is one horrible team. I am loving the lack of expectations for this team.

August 24, 2008  10:04 AM ET

Scrappy_AK...I agree. Not going to happen . The guy is happy where he is.
So far the prognosis is not bad, will have to see. Kiwanuka is a possibility, but there is a definte problem at LB for the Giants and he is starting to play like a real LB. I am more concerned about the kickier. Huston may be the worst kicker in football, Tynes is recovering. I would look there first. Giving up 8 sacks to the Jets is not a good start. Without Shockey the running game is average. Could be a long season.

well no way are the giants gonna be back in the super bowl, my patriots should be just fine though, we have no serious injuries

August 24, 2008  10:39 AM ET

BOSTONDominatesEveryone .. A little early to talk about injuries. Every game is a possibility. Brady has not played a down yet.

You're team is a laughing stock. Just like the other teams in New England.

August 24, 2008  10:53 AM ET

Celtics a laughing stock? Red Sox? Laughing all the way to championships. I'm not a NE fan in any way, but that was an inane statement.

August 24, 2008  11:06 AM ET

STRAHAN IS SOOOOOOOOO HAPPY TO BE RETIRED.......... HE WONT BE BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

August 24, 2008  11:06 AM ET

laughing stock? exactly who do you like for teams?

August 24, 2008  11:12 AM ET
