Bosh: Olympic gold as big as it gets

The grin didn't leave Chris Bosh's face. "Personally," said Bosh, the Toronto Raptors star, "this is as big as you can get. This only comes once every four years. Now I can join that elite class of gold medallists." The U.S. has been waiting eight years to call itself the best at basketball once again at the Olympic Games. Bosh has been waiting a lifetime to call himself a champion. U.S. coach Mike Krzyzewski has been raving about Bosh's play, his versatility, and his attitude since the Olympics began. And it showed with him getting more playing time than U.S. starting centre Dwight Howard. Bosh played 23 minutes yesterday, Howard played 17:23.

Chris Bosh played great down the stretch and made his free throws. The entire team played great though, sharing the basketball and being selfish only at times when they needed to. Great run, great games - I watched every game. USA!

USA did really well except for the Gold medal game. Spain came so close. If Spain played more zone defense and continued to irritate the Americas at the bdginning then maybe Spain would have had a better chance. D-Wade played his hearts out. Spain missed some key 3 pointers towards the end.

Anyways CBosh played really well. He played like he should have been the starter.

DwightPoss

Are you talking about yourself? Dwight is the starter and we are not talking about the NBA season. We are not saying that CBosh should be the starter. We are just saying that CBosh PLAYED LIKE he should be the starter.

For younger players......
I have no problem with them going to play.

My issue is when they get OLDER...
the NBA season is LONG- once they get their medal.....that really should be it for them. Especially big men who wear out quicker.
Let another wave of players go

guys like bosh, boozer, prince, redd, are real lucky the rest of the big stars dont give a stuff about the olympics

Winkstrap: Umm those players played in 2004 and we all know the result there. The US do not need big stars. They needed the role plays like Prince, Redd, Bosh and Boozer. Those guys were the glue guys that got it done.

If NBA execs listened to idiots like you we would still be behind Spain and Argentina.

Bosh is the future of international competiton!! He's a big man who can move within Zone defenses!!! He was beast and I was a guy who was skeptical on his talent but not anymore!!! The big men in the NBA dont move past zone screens well cuz their feet are too slow!!! Bosh can and will and the way he imposed his will on softee Gasol in the qualifying game was classic!! As a matter of fact he made both Gasol brothers look like creme puffs!!!

Bosh played more minutes down the stretch was simply because he is a better free throw shooter than Howard, Especially in a close game, you don't want any team to invoke the Hack-a-shaq philosophy.

any bum gets steals in international basketball its like you getting 5ex from a 60 yo man you sicko J>hova your a freak

Except that they're both selfish locker room cancers. There's no room for that on the international level. It's not just about the stats. It's about the attitude you convey among your peers and teammates as well. The Redeem Team was as close to a perfect balance of star power, role players, youth energy, and veteran experience as you were going to get with the pool of players available that didn't turn down the offer to play for Team USA.

2004 showed everyone that the US can no longer just slap together an Allstar roster and treat the Olympics like a 2-week exhibition. There was more star power than this team, yet it was riddled with disharmony and, in the end, they had to settle for bronze.

This team was smartly pieced together and cultivated in 2006 and it got the job done.

For the record, KG had turned down playing at the Olympics.

Bosh was very impressive in the Olympics, going after rebounds and blocked shots. Bodying up and playing very tough defense, without hands but with his feet. He was great and boozer didnt get much PT because of it.

It's disgusting that people like winkstrap come in here and spit fire on TEAM USA while touting the NBA...could you be more contradictory?

This raises the question: Is an Olympic Gold medal in Basketball bigger then a NBA title...i still say no...i think most of the players said yes to be nice and not offend FIBA...

and another thing...is it just me or do international players like Gasol, Ginobli, AK 47, and all the others foreign players that are in the pros play harder and with more heart in international competition then a game 7 playoff game...ESPECIALLY YAO MING...i mean if he played like that with the rockets they wouldn't be the underachieving team they are today...maybe its because its about YOUR COUNTRY's pride and honor then it is about a city's bragging rights...can't really blame them...but at the same time...COME ON...
