Back doesn't concern Cubs' Lee

Despite being held out of the lineup Sunday because of back spasms near his left shoulder, Derrek Lee insists his health is not a concern. ''I'm fine,'' Lee said before the Cubs' 6-1 victory over the Washington Nationals. ''Today is more a precautionary day. I just got some spasms [Saturday], and that's all it is. I'm fine. It's no big deal.'' He is expected back in the lineup tonight in Pittsburgh. However, Lee did admit that the spasms are related to the neck and shoulder spasms that bothered him through much of last season.

First! In your face JR!

Eh, they have ok depth even he does go down. But they need to be careful not to let get hurt more... Especially with his history.

Yeah, the Cubs are always completely forthcoming about their injuries. By the way, when is Prior's next start for the Cubbies?

August 25, 2008  11:46 AM ET

Damn, the season is forever long so dude takes an off day to rest his back and that needs to generate a freakin article on FN?

Hey Kenosha, when the Brewers give the actual playing weights of Sabathia and Prince "I gained weight between innings" Fielder, then you can talk. Fact is, Lou said last week he was going to sit Fukodome and Lee during the homestand at some point.

August 25, 2008  04:58 PM ET

Kenosha Mark usually does have stupid remarks involving the Cubs. Can't wait for the Cubs to humiliate the Brewers yet again the next time they face them.

Hey chisoxfan,
Actually Lee was 3 for 4 at the plate with a walk and 2 bagger in a 12-3 Cub pounding. Just in case you missed it, I thought I'd let you know the Sox also lost to last place Baltimore. Better worry about what your own players are doing.

August 25, 2008  10:07 PM ET

Start hitting more HR's and less ground into double plays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

August 26, 2008  12:07 AM ET

Ummm Wrigley....the Sox beat Baltimore tonight.....

Just like the Cubs were going to humiliate the White Sox in the second series they played them? Zambrano looks like he could use a diet too. The only thing that keeps his weight down is sparring... with Barrett, ice chests, igloo water dispensers, etc. Roid rage, I'm sure.

August 26, 2008  04:42 AM ET

Wonder when the next time that fat sissy Contreras is pitching? The Cubs always humiliate the White Sox by taking away their spotlight. The Sox will forever be the LA Clippers of Chicago baseball, going unnoticed and unrecognized. The Twins will also pass them right by.

You're right but at the time I wrote they had lost the earlier game. Split with the Orioles? It's more of a response to the sox ****.

August 26, 2008  09:51 AM ET

Okay, got ya, Wrigley. I figured that out later.....'cause I was trying to figure out what you were talking about......I should have figured it out...

August 26, 2008  04:40 PM ET

Poor pahetic Kenosha......he had to come back with a White Sox win against the Cubs because his team was useless ( just like him) against the Cubs the last time they faced them at WRIGLEY NORTH!!!

August 26, 2008  04:41 PM ET

pathetic*

August 26, 2008  04:42 PM ET

Remember the days when Kenosha didn't want to say who his team was........then he finally decided to jump on the bandwagon, along with the rest of them.
