Michael Strahan was vacationing in Greece Sunday when the news broke that his old friend Osi Umenyiora was lost for the season. But he would consider ending his vacation and coming out of retirement if the Giants really want him back, the Daily News has learned. According to a source close to the future Hall of Famer, all it would take to get the 37-year-old to end his 77-day retirement would be $8 million and a few kind words to return now that Umenyiora is out for the season.

The Giants aren't going to repeat, so I don't know why they would sign him.

August 25, 2008  06:27 AM ET

going to take the Giant's a little time to load the Brink's truck.

August 25, 2008  06:50 AM ET

It will take 4 million to fix that gap in his teeth and another 4 million to get Eddie Murphy's stench off of his girlfriend. Better ask for ten.

hey, I am retired, but I will come out of retirement for less than that. jerry

They only reason they beat the PATS is because of thier D-line and now they have just lost a second. Pay the man for a chance or just count this season as done before it starts. Eli didnt win them their games the D did.

Only 8 million and a few kind words? For 8 million, you can cuss me out all you want.

It's a pic of T.O. and Jerry Jones eating popcorn. And I'm being honest. No one honestly expected the Giants to win the Superbowl again even before Osi went out. They made a good run late last year. That's it. It's not like they were dominate the whole season. They lost too many starters on defense from last year's team to even be considered Superbowl favorites.

8 million ... ? How much is his ex asking for?

August 25, 2008  07:47 AM ET

Ex cant get none of his new money I dont think

August 25, 2008  07:54 AM ET

Yeah if I were Strahan I'd stay home - the Giants aren't going back to the Super Bowl...go out as a Champion don't be one of those guys that come back and end up having a brutal season.

August 25, 2008  07:59 AM ET

JJ i understand the hate, all the Teams in the NFC are tough when they play each other. Id like to think they dont have a chance either but you cant write of no one in that division. 3 out of 4 made it last year, and yes the Gaints backed in just like the Skins but i wouldnt sleep on them. The injury sucks for them and they need to do something to compete

August 25, 2008  08:03 AM ET

No you wouldn't stay home. 8 million is still a lot of coin. He will be back.....

August 25, 2008  08:11 AM ET

money talks ...

August 25, 2008  08:11 AM ET

He's definately coming back. Put it in the books!

August 25, 2008  08:12 AM ET

Take it Strahan. You dont have to split this amount the divorce is final

August 25, 2008  08:13 AM ET

Once a Marine, always a Marine.
Once a Giant, always a Giant? Never heard that one before.

That is so true ... It wouldn't surprise me if the Giants gave Strahan the money at this point they need security and without Umenyiora, that is something that they don't truly have.

I guess if Brett can play this game .. he can too. He left on top.. maybe he can make the right decision... doubtful
