Porter may miss Dolphins' season

The opener looms, and as the days draw closer to the start of the Miami Dolphins' regular season, Joey Porter becomes more concerned he won't be part of the team's much-hyped New Beginning. He's worried he's closer to a career ending. On Monday, the Dolphins spent some practice time doing work for that opening game against the New York Jets. Porter was absent from practice. Again. He was visiting a doctor -- again -- trying to get a fix on a mysterious back ailment that has him, and the team, fearing he's going to miss portions of this season, including the opener.

Don't worry Dolfans, Joey will HEARD all over the football field. He can't keep his big hot air mouth quiet.

As for him not playing in the openner, big deal. He missed so many tackles last year that they might as well play "Lucas" instead.

Porter = Just another overpaid ex-Steeeler who isn't making a dent on his next team. Steelers do have a great defensive scheme though.

If they got rid of Jay Feely for talking too much, I'm sure they wouldn't mind getting rid of Porter next

didn't porter miss all of last season too? oh wait, he was just irrelevant, sorry my mistake, not the same thing.

August 26, 2008  08:33 AM ET

He returned to face his old team last year in the mud bowl. He said to the Steelers: "You love me -- you know you love me!"

Porter and Burress (and Faneca?) may be looking to join the Neil O'Donnell Club of mega millionaires who cashed in -- then crashed in their next job --after leaving the confluence of the three rivers.

Can we get a file photo of Porter in a Fins jersey.

I wonder if anyone ever conducted an actual survey, even for the last five years, to see what actually happens to those expensive free agents after they sign with a new team? I know there's been some good results, I know, but there seems to be an overwhelming number of bad ones and here's another.

Patriots Now -- nice pic.

For info on NFL busts a good place to start is free agents/ Redskins in the last 10 years. The raiders are a pathologist's dream in many areas. But some teams rule in certain positions like the Ravens with excellence in selecting dud QBs.

Mysterious back ailment? I think it might be called used up&hit out-itis.

I agree Locnar that every big name Steeler that left flopped with their new team which is a testament to their front office. The lone exception is Rod Woodson whom was starting to get toasted on the corner at 31 with a surgically repaired knee. He had some pretty good years in Baltimore and Oakland. Plexicrack is starting to break out of his bust mold...must stay healthy. Joey Porter was a HUGE waste of money!!!

I forgot to mention Hot Rod also moved to safety too

Woodson was a freak at DB. Rarely have we seen that talent before. Plexiglass [my ole fav] still has the big game in him; I'm not writing him off yet; but I think your right that he's breaking through, finally... Just hope he doesn't get the big head like so many WRs do.

Joey, yeah you're still loved in the Burg.. You're always needed here. Mysterious ailment, ok, get it fixed and get back in da game...
