Report: Bengals shopping Rudi

ESPN reported tonight that the Bengals are shopping Rudi Johnson in trade talks to other NFL team in pursuit of a "legitimate" wide receiver. Reached at his home around 8:30 p.m. by The Enquirer, Johnson said, "I haven't heard anything." The Bengals don't comment on speculated player moves, public relations director Jack Brennan said. Fifth-year tailback Chris Perry and backup Kenny Watson have gotten most of the preseason carries with Johnson injured. Four wide receivers -- Chad Johnson, Houshmandzadeh, Marcus Maxwell and Andre Caldwell -- have been injured; Maxwell is out for the season with a thigh injury.

Might as well..

Problem with this Mike Brown conceived trade, He'll have to include a "legitimate" Running Back to get his "legitimate" Wideout. Nobody is going to trade for a RB that might get cut and they won't have to pay a 3.2 million contract for.

Them Bengals make me cry. (Bad grammar used for emphasis and style).

The Bengals GM should be fired if the owner cares about winning.

Rudi may not even make this team with an uninjured Perry and the emergence of Watson. He is not the same Rudi he once was. Someone take him please.

August 26, 2008  08:55 AM ET

He plays like he doesnt care anymore. He's just not the same playr he once was. It like he lost his "drive". I cant explain it, but he is different. He used to play with passion and energy. Now he just plays. Bye bye Rudi.

August 26, 2008  09:07 AM ET

I can't explain why he lost the desire, but I can explain what he's missing. Jim Anderson teaches bengal backs to run with a chip on their shoulder. When a featured bengals back no longer hits the defenders that tackle him, he's on borrowed time in Cincy. Rudi can stay and be our next harrold green or he can go, his exit interview already started last season. even little james brooks was known in the nfl for tatooing anyone that tackled him.

rudi is just collecting a check these days and it shows.

Morning SFD, I think that's the way we all feel sometimes no matter what the daily grind. =-]

Cincy probally has one of the most talented teams that will be lucky to win 8 games. They lack discipline and that is shocking from a coach who preaches it. Law issues and injuries play a role but this team shows more life before a season than when it starts. Even Chad stays quiet once the games start... sad.

darn... just bought an autographed RJ bengals helmet.

August 26, 2008  09:46 AM ET

behind a good line, RJ can get 3.5/4.0 ypc... He'd be a good fit with a speedy scat-back type. I hope cincy can still make him productive here.
