'Bama recruits drive Escalades?
Clemson's affable defensive coordinator has apologized for saying that two of Alabama's most highly regarded football recruits each drove off from high school events in a Cadillac Escalade. "I guess I made a mistake in cutting a joke," Koenning said. The ninth-ranked Tigers open the season Saturday against No. 24 Alabama in Atlanta. In a week where antiseptic comments of mutual respect are the norm, Vic Koenning most likely gave the underdog Tide something to rally around. Koenning has led the Tigers' defense the past three seasons. He's rarely shy with his opinions and gained a reputation as one of the staff's most humorous coaches.

I highly doubt the players even know about this, and even if they do, it would hardly be anything to get fired up about. Besides, if Alabama can't get fired up for this game on their own, there's just no budging their emotions. It's not like it matters all that much anyway; Clemson will have their way with the Tide on Saturday.

You mean big schools give top recruits cars? No never. By the way, there are several Clemson players that come from very poor families driving some nice SUV's too.

Its not uncommon for high level recruits to have nice cars. How they do it is they schedule them a class that is off campus, then they lease out a nice car to them for "Transportation Purposes". I remember on the Illinois campus I saw Rashard Mendehall driving a Mustang GT, that was all tricked out with the rims and sound system.

Unfortunately it happens everywhere. OSU, UT, USC, and plenty of others are guilty of this but they all have money and means to hide such things. I played for a Division IAA and we never had perks like this. Heck we never were even allowed to have internships off campus.

I'll tell you what was a nice ride Shaq drove a tricked out Blazer in the early nintey's at LSU. His front plate said Shaq Traq. It was red and all pimped out. He would take up two spaces at Broussard hall.
