Disgraced union rep to testify

Disgraced former NHLPA executive director Ted Saskin is scheduled to testify tomorrow on behalf of the NHL and against the interests of the union he once represented, in an arbitration hearing that has critical implications for the Rangers, The Post has learned. The issue at hand concerns the status of drafted European players who do not sign before June 2 of the second calendar year following their selections. Article 8.6 of the CBA states that clubs lose their rights to such players if they are not signed on or by that date. The NHL, however, is claiming that the absence of transfer agreements with European hockey federations renders that portion of the CBA obsolete. It is the league's position that those unsigned players revert to what was known as "defected status" under the CBA that expired on Sept. 15, 2004, and thus remain the property of their drafting clubs forever. Saskin's brief reign that was marked by accusations that he was too comfy with the NHL hierarchy on Sixth Avenue, ended in scandal in which he allegedly ordered subordinates to hack into union activists' NHLPA e-mail accounts. He is on the league witness list with his chum, deputy commissioner Bill Daly.

Transfer agreemant or not if they haven't signed these players how can they say they own their rights. This just shows commander buttman is a little rattled by the KHL trying to poach NHL players. As far as Saskin goes he was too NHL friendly for some of the more militant union members (Chelios) so he wasn't going to last long anyways. If he did hack into there e-mails he's lucky they haven't filed any legal charges against him. One thing about the NHL is they put the fun back in dysfunctional.

Time to face the music! BTW, can somebody tap into the most hated midget's personal e-mail to let him know what fans think about him?

I find this punk worthy of a beating. Disgraced is hardy harsh enough to describe this morons failings.

Maybe becoming chum would be a better fate.

He could use some of Nelson's hair, too. Nah, no clippings for scum.

Seabird, why are you trying to give my hair away? I don't want to resemble M**S S****N. I like my hair.

August 27, 2008  12:39 PM ET

I want it. I have hair envy. I got greedy when I heard about that $50,000. I don't know that I'd go drinking with bgm anytime soon.....( you missed the fun yesterday ).

August 27, 2008  12:47 PM ET

I caught up on it last night. I am well aware of the evil plan that you and bgm are formulating. I'll be ready for you.

Why has the NHL so much trouble getting good administrators? Could it be that they are still living in the 19th century?

August 27, 2008  03:08 PM ET

(I think we may have to get Roberts to come with us there seabird. We need his taser, but shhhhhhhhh...dont tell wt).
bostongm

A taser, that might be good. That way we wouldn't have to waste all that beer on him. More for us. But wait, I don't want you drinking too much, either. When you staple that hair on my head I want it to look natural and nice, like Bobby Hull's rug. Not like Glen Campbell's mug shot either. We should do a TD on that. Who had the worst hair mug shot, Glen Campbell or Nick Nolte? LOL

August 27, 2008  04:55 PM ET

What about Jim Carr, the announcer from Slapshot? His hair mug shot would have been pretty terrible.
