Bengals tailback Rudi Johnson, the third-leading rusher in franchise history, said Tuesday that he expects to be traded "any minute now." He returned to practice Monday and Tuesday after battling a hamstring problem and learned that the Bengals are offering him to other teams for a wide receiver. Johnson said he would play Thursday night in the Bengals' preseason finale at Indianapolis - if he's still with the Bengals. Head coach Marvin Lewis dismissed the ESPN report as a rumor.

Rudy, read story above.

To who? For what? You're contract is too big, and you're too banged up. Cheap, fresh legs are always out there. Not for even for a 7th round choice.

Only way he's traded is if the Bengals can pick up part of his tab, or if he's willing to renegotiate for less. Mike Brown is way too cheap to pick up the tab for someone else's player just to get him out of town.

"HOW COME RUDY GETS TRADED AND I CAN'T"

if jim anderson tags a RB as baggage in cincy, they are done in cincy. just how it works in cincy, jim is god when it comes to our RB. even mike doesn't mess with jim anderson. there's a reason one coach in cincy has been around since paul brown.

just a matter of time until rudi isn't in cincy. whether he has to rid the bench for awhile or until all the backs are hurt and he's trying to earn his way out of anderson's doghouse. no back ever has. rudi is playing out his last contract in cincy. just a matter of when he is released. the why has already been decided.

I heard that Anquan Boldin could go to Cincy for Johnson. Makes a lot of sense. Bolden wants traded and he'll fill that need for the Bengals. Arizona could use another RB, so it would benefit both teams.

He still has a few years in him. It could be a steal to get him for a third rounder or a second WR. He is good enough to start for a number of teams. If the Texans are smart they will try to get this guy.

Hey Cincy...how bout trading Rudi for a LB, DE, or a DB??? Your Defense is HORRIBLE!!!! I can't believe more bengals fans aren't saying the same thing. Let's focus fella's.

August 27, 2008  11:05 AM ET

oh yeah...and there is ZERO chance that Rudi is going to Arizona for Boldin...NADA!

August 27, 2008  11:10 AM ET

the jets suck

August 27, 2008  11:38 AM ET

If I were Marvin Lewis I would not be so sure of myself dismissing rumors and speaking on behalf of the front office. We've seen how much they care about what he thinks.

August 27, 2008  01:13 PM ET

I heard it on a local sports talk show. The host didn't divulge his source but he said it.

August 27, 2008  01:30 PM ET

Hey Dratcliff--I'll bet the Jets finish the season with a better record then Cincy...and I'll spot your ex-cons 2 games.
