Bucs taking calls for Clayton

Even before Michael Clayton reintroduced himself to the end zone Saturday, the Bucs were fielding calls from other teams interested in trading for the enigmatic receiver. A change of scenery might be good for Clayton, who is in the final year of his contract. And certainly, the Bucs have a surplus of pass catchers. But it's unlikely any route Clayton runs this season will take him out of Tampa Bay. "I'm interested in Clayton, too. I don't care who else is," coach Jon Gruden said Monday. "We're going to keep our best players, and I'll leave it at that. We've had a real competitive camp, and Mike has done some good things. People call all the time about all kinds of things."

Clayton for Rudy ??????

August 27, 2008  07:29 AM ET

Didn't the Bengals want a receiver? Hmmmm
Maybe Rudy Johnson to the Bucs for Michael Clayton... Maybe the Bucs would need to throw another guy in there but hey, sounds like a good trade to me.

Michael, read story below.

Cowboys are a perfect match for Michael Clayton.....

August 27, 2008  09:32 AM ET

He showed so much coming into the league but has yet to produce the same results since then. He needs to have a good season if he wants a big money deal.

Clayton had has a QB Carousel since he had arrived in Tampa....That could be the problem.

Good consumption, but no matter what he hasnt played up to his potential. Maybe the QB carousel, or slight injuries. Bring him back home.Jason David, and Lance Moore for Michael Clayton.

He was the NFC ROY for his first season going for over 100 yards and as a WR that is usually a hard thing to do (have success as a rookie and let alone win that award). The talent is there and for some reason he has not built upon that first season of success. Perhaps it is a lack of work ethic.

The Tennesse Titans.

rudi is broke down...why would you trade for him?

August 27, 2008  11:44 AM ET

Contact George Clooney if you want Michael Clayton

If Clayton wants to have a chance to win a Super Bowl and finally show off his skills, then he needs to find a way to get to Dallas and catch some passes from Romo!

August 27, 2008  01:11 PM ET

SithLordz, why is it everyone thinks dallas is going to the Superbowl? Because there not they have been picking dallas to go to the Superbowl for the past 3 years and they still haven't gotten over the hump, and they won't this year either.

thanks for the heads up Bobby123, that makes great sense.

August 27, 2008  02:32 PM ET

We're going to run the football. They know it, we know it.

August 27, 2008  02:49 PM ET

clayton must not be that good. i know this because zero Eagles fans have responded to this story.

August 27, 2008  03:18 PM ET

Booby123.... now don't tell me and all of FanNation, that in your expert opinion, the Cowboys don't have the talent on the present team to win the whole freakin' thing this year. Not last year, not the year before......this freakin' year....2008-2009....

August 27, 2008  03:45 PM ET

Talent alone does NOT win Super Bowls. Yes, Dallas has alot of talent, but they do not have that desire or heart to win it all. I'm a Colts fan BM (before Manning), and we had the talent to win it all for the past five years, but have only won it once.

P.S. Don't count us out this year either!!!!

August 27, 2008  04:00 PM ET

B-Real.....please, just be real....Talent alone doesn't win Super Bowls, I have to agree with that, but I could give you a long list of current Cowboys that do have the heart and desire to take this 2008 Team to the Big One. Also, I might add, that I am too, a Colts fan and I would love for the Colts and the Cowboys to both make it to the Superbowl this year. It would make for an incredible game in January, a rematch of Superbowl V.

Tampa Bay, Cincinatti, Detroit... places free agents will continue to avoid.

Cowboys are stacked, I give them that. But it's all about the playoffs.
