Execs want Sundin's answer

Mats Sundin's decision on his future may or may not come this week. While teams slowly start to get ready to go back to work with the opening of training camp less than three weeks away, many are wondering what the 37-year-old captain of the Maple Leafs is going to do this season. With several teams -- including the Leafs, New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens, Vancouver Canucks and Philadelphia Flyers -- making pitches for Sundin, the unrestricted free agent center is at home in Sweden weighing his options and trying to decide if he's even going to suit up this season. Oddly enough, the teams involved in the sweepstakes aren't the only ones who wish that Sundin would make a decision. Several teams trying to make moves are being handcuffed because if Sundin does decide to play, then it's going to affect how much they spend under the $56.8-million salary cap.

Go on with out him. If he wants to play he will have to work with teams to fit into their plans and not the other way around. If he doesn't want to play then no big deal, teams dont lose someone they may have for a couple of years as opposed to just a year.

I have always been a big Sundin fan but I have to admit, I am sick of his "pondering his future." It is getting stupid and tarnishing his reputation.

Make a decision already! Geez!!!

Now its getting ugly. I love Mats but now his indecision is costing other teams. Is he really this much of an attention ****? He needs to pull his head out of this hibernation and go back to Toronto.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT - SERIOUSLY:

Our beloved OilersForeverFan whom we all know and love, passed out at work or home ( bgm, I can assure you this was not alcohol induced......:) ) and awoke in hospital ( I love the way they say that over there instead of THE hospital ) surrounded, as he put it , by White Coats who were giving him surreptitious glances that were not exactly increasing his confidence level.
He's undergoing a battery of tests as I write and I'm hoping this is nothing serious.
A friend snuck him in a laptop so he was able to write and said he will scan the threads as time and energy allow. If you get a chance, please send him a thumbs up as he loves this place and everyone on it.

Thanks,
Seabird

Get well soon, Oilers.

The rest of us want to know this clown's decision as well, so we don't have to keep hearing that it is coming soon. We can put this whole mess behind us.

Any team that gets screwed out of signing a player they want b/c they're waiting for this gut deserves it. If there is any justice in the world, Sundin will sign with with a team and then break his leg.

Whoa.........thats serious stuff there seabird. Hopefully he doesnt come on this site today. The TWO,count'em TWO Sundin stories might make his will to live even weaker!! Hhahahahhaha.

JK...in all seriousness. Get well soon there Oil Man. I was wondering why there was hardly any seabird,Oil Man banter going on lately. I think the Oil Man needs some serious rest and relaxation. No stressful activities at all.

Thanks for telling us there seabird.

The media has turned this story into a complete and utter joke. I don't recall the day Mats sent out a memo to current GM's around the league stating he was ready to decide on his future. Any hockey executive around the league knows how valuable he is, so quite presumably, many of them want the chance to have future HOF'er on their team. But when we look to point the blame, I only see idiocy when it's pointed in the direction of Sundin. Why not the incompetent, bumbling-and-stumbling GMs we've come to idolize? These guys are the ones who makes the hockey decisions. Many of them could have chosen to move on, yet they base their hopes on the slight possibility of Sundin signing with their team. The Maple Leafs have begun to move on, I suggest the other teams around the NHL start looking at the reality of Mats never playing another game in the league. This is the biggest circus I've seen since the Burke-Lowe incident.
