Mets: Wagner still week away

Billy Wagner long-tossed at Shea Stadium Wednesday, but he still isn't close to throwing off a mound yet. The injured Mets closer -- who is rehabbing a sore left elbow -- could be a week away from progressing to that level, according to general manager Omar Minaya, but the Mets aren't quite ready to sketch out a timetable for his return. Wagner just returned to New York from his native Virginia, where he had been resting and doing some light throwing. Wagner also saw a doctor Wednesday, who told Wagner that the swelling is down in his elbow.

.....So why do they have a picture of Manuel getting tossed?

who cares at this point. just win. if he's not 100%, don't bother. the Mets have enough guys that can harm the team already.

Put a fork in him and move on.

"Wagner: Still a Week Away" - O.K. and that week is in what year ???

August 28, 2008  12:14 PM ET

The Mets are running out of weeks...... if the Phillies weren't such a flawed team this would be over by now....

We'll cross that bridge when we get there. In the meantime, keep winning games and let Wagner recover.

Maybe, by the time Wagner does come back, the bullpen will have stepped up after battling through the stretch. It's a good test for the team.

Dude?? What stretch??? Do you call 13 months a stretch? They've all sucked since May of 2007. Thats a hell of a stretch. Here's a stretch....they all suck. Not sure how much of a stretch that is, but I like my chances on it being accurate.

He's not being tossed. That's the 1st base ump raring back with a haymaker to Manuals chops.

I'm sure Jerry Manuel will lead the Mets to the promised land just like he did for the White Sox. Oh wait...

Looks more like the ump is dancing and Manuel wants no part of it.
