FC Dallas settles Rocha dispute

FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman said an "internal matter" with midfielder Andre Rocha is under control. During Saturday's 1-1 draw in Kansas City, Rocha walked directly to the locker room after Hyndman subbed him at the 66-minute mark for rookie Bruno Guarda. Rocha's refusal to sit on the bench for the rest of the game didn't impress Hyndman. It wasn't clear whether the Brazilian playmaker missed a mandatory training session on Monday or whether the coach had suspended him. The team was down to 10 men, and it was a tactical substitution in response to the ejection of defensive midfielder Pablo Ricchetti, Hyndman explained. However, the trend in the last three matches has been Guarda, an offensive midfielder, replacing Rocha in the right flank during the same 60-minute span. Hyndman also claims that Rocha isn't moving enough forward into the attacking third.

Rocha sees so much of the ball but ultimately produces very little. He strikes the ball incredibly well, but he's missed several sitters. To his credit, he does provide some wonderful service.

This is the same situation that happened with Amado Guevara when the RedBulls were the Metrostars a few years ago and everyone blew up.
Let me clear this up, Schellas and all the other American coaches.
In Latin (South) America, when a player is substituted, he leaves the field of play and heads for the locker room to shower. There's no point in the player getting cold and rotting on the bench where he serves no purpose. Once showered, the player makes his way to the stands, player's box (whatever) and watches what little remains of the match he was just in.
In the US, it's customary to move to the bench and stew.
I'm not saying something isn't going on here between coach and player, not too many guys want to be subbed. But it is normal to leave the field and not sit on the bench.
You'd think some of these experienced COACHES would know that!!!

I'm not very impressed either! Some of these stiffs think too highly of themselves! This dude thinks he's bigger than the team!

What a quality Brazilian player has to prove to the lowly MLS team is beyond me.
