OKC team settles on Thunder

The wait is nearly over. Oklahoma City's NBA team is expected to announce Thunder as its nickname at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The franchise will announce the team name, its mark, the four team colors and logo at a press conference at Leadership Square. Team officials would neither confirm nor deny whether Thunder is the nickname. Team uniforms, home and road, won't be revealed until late September.

Wow this is crazy. They are still following the Seattle franchise. They have the Seattle Storm and now the Oklahoma City Thunder. Good Luck w/ the name. Now you will always be tied to the Seattle area.

If the NBA can have the Warriors, why couldn't they name the team the Outlaws, the Rebels (I know, UNLV) or the Blast?

Its been reported for a month it would be "thunder."

They should have went with "Barons" and their D-League team could have been "Marshalls."
