Left wing Jeff Friesen - the Sharks' first-round draft pick in 1994 and a popular presence in San Jose for seven seasons - will be invited to training camp as a tryout. Friesen, who has played on four NHL teams since the Sharks traded him to Anaheim in 2001, did not make an NHL roster last season. "He has a very good history here,'' general manager Doug Wilson said, "and we look forward to him coming and being given the opportunity to play."

Come on now !!! I'm just trying to be "one of the guys" !!! Sorry to admit I've been around long enough to see Eddie Giacomin go from the RI Reds to the Rangers to the Hall Of Fame . Before him the goalie was "Red Light" Bennett !!!

Boy, I must be getting old too! I remember when Freisen was on the Canadian Juniors. Him, Todd Harvey, Paul Karyia etc... Now THAT was a team.

I never was sold on Paul Karyia. Great wheels. Lot's ot talent but never lived up to the billing. Too selfish and too soft. More than anything, he was the product of media hype.

PSA # 3 OILERS FAN UPDATE ON THAT SAME OLD SUNDIN THREAD

The sense of humor is intact.

Good luck and take care OFF. My dad had a near fatal car accident 7 months ago. He's had 4 brain surgeries and countless hours of rehab since then and is still only 25% to 35% back. The hospital just called and said he's got aortic stenosis now. I can only imagine what you and your family are going through. May God be with you man.

I wonder if anyone here knows more about hockey than Doug Wilson?
